We want to use the “blog posts” content element on the homepage to display videos. Is it possible to use a youtube or vimeo video as the featured image? That way people can just click to play the video on the homepage without having to click to get to the blog post itself.

We figured out to do a workaround using Portfolio Items and changing “Overwrite Portfolio Link setting” option to define custom link.

I prefer to use blog posts so that we can create the post and it can be used in RSS feeds as well as be automatically set on the blog page of our site.

This is the page we are working on: http://origentertainment.com/new-home/

BTW, I did find a plugin called featured video plus but I wanted to see if this was a native feature.

    Thanks!

    Hey Jeff,

There is no support in the theme itself for that, I would suggest you try out that plugin you found. I can’t guarantee that it will work with the theme though.

    Hi
I’m interested in this as well. So I installed the Featured Video Plus plugin. I works OK but I would like to find a fix for the thumbnail image that would normally gets displayed on the blog list page. I not working well and perhaps you may have an idea on how I could fix it.

Here’s my website blog list page where you can see what’s happening: https://silviafindings.com/blog

Hope you can help as soon as possible because I have now published the post/video and it does not look very professional with the thumbnail display.

    Thank you

    Hi Lyse,

It’s not really up to us to fix things which is generated by a third party plugin, could you try contacting the plugin author first please? I’m guessing that the image size generated by the plugin is too large.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard
OK I will do that. Your support is so appreciated that I thought you might know exactly how to fix it.
    Much appreciated

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. In general we’re experts on our themes only, but we do of course know things about different plugins as well, but not all of them :-)

    Best regards,
    Rikard
