    Hi,
    I made my first website by following a tutorial.
    The website looks great, I have made a lot of changes by using the Avia-builder.

    Now I realize I should have made the design in a child theme so the parent theme can be updated. I did not do this. I downloaded the Enfold theme and started making all the adjustments in the downloaded theme without creating a child theme.

    I have put a lot of time in creating the website.
    Is there a way to make the current design my child theme?

    Hey WindowStories,

    That depends on what changes you have made, if you have edited any of the core files like functions.php or any of the CSS files, then you would have to move them to the child. If you have only made settings in the layout builder and theme options then you can export them to your child. If you want to experiment with it then I would recommend that you copy your site to a staging area on the same server or copy it to a local installation.

    Thanks for your quick reply.
    I copied everything successfully to the child theme!

    How do I update my parent theme safely? My child theme is activated now :)

    Hi,

    You either use the Envato Updater or you can download and update the theme through FTP!
