Hi, I would like to thank you for all the support you have given me so far, unfortunately I have realised some new issues with browser compatibility, specially IE and Firefox.
I have tested the website on chrome and safari on both Mac and PC and everything works perfect but when using IE 10 and 11, and firefox on PCs even with the latest versions of them all icons either disappear or show in some sort of Chinese letters or symbols.
The problem is also effecting other things too, for example the simple arrows displayed on the sides of easy slider or on the scroll to top function disappear and so on.
I have gone through many suggestion in your support section, from pasting codes to .htaccess, to installing suggested plugins and pasting codes to quick css but nothing is working.
I have also deleted all WordPress plugins and did a clean installation of your theme and imported the dummy data but nothing has been solved.
Here is the link to my domain: http://www.thamescad.co.uk/
Could you please help me. Thank you.
February 17, 2014 at 11:43 pm #225184Hey mohammad-psm!
I have just checked your website on Chrome, Firefox and IE and icons display just fine on all these browsers on Win7.
IE: http://i.imgur.com/JJYIfwT.jpg
Firefox: http://i.imgur.com/9HlCmVu.jpg
Can you please flush browsers cache and confirm that it does work fine on your end as well?Regards,
YigitFebruary 19, 2014 at 5:00 pm #226271Same problem here. I have build my site on a subdomain and migrated it this afternoon to my main domain. After the migration the icons appear as chinese signs in IE11 (in Chrome it seems to be fine). The Arrow to scroll back to the top and the magnifying glass next to the search field aren’t dispayed at all.
I have tried a clean install of the theme by FTP, clearing the cache of IE11 but nothing helps. Any clue what might be the problem or could have gone wrong with the migration of my website?Regards,
ErikFebruary 19, 2014 at 6:43 pm #226356Solved it! With the website migration from the subdomain to the main domain I did change the site URL from ‘test.mydomain.com’ tot mydomain.com in the database. Now I have changed the site URL to ‘www.my domain.com’ (same domain with “www.” before the domain) and this seems to have done the trick! The icons are being displayed as they should be again.
Regards,
ErikFebruary 19, 2014 at 6:45 pm #226357Yigit thank you for looking into the issue, to be honest I had to sort out the problem ASAP, I waited a few hours after posting to see if I would get a quick reply, but after some waiting I decided to go a head and uninstall WordPress, delete the database and create a new one and reinstall everything again, and by the time you checked the website and took the images I had finished creating the new database and installing WordPress and the theme and this time I didn’t import the dummy data either and everything seems to be working fine, but once again thank you for looking into this I know you must be busy.
In the end I didn’t really figure out what caused the problem in the first place, but I did do some research and found out some hosting companies (GoDaddy in this case) are not as optimised as many others for WordPress and so it could have been a server issue, or some of the updates didn’t install properly.
I hope this helps Erik too, who seems to have the same problem, mine is working for NOW.
February 19, 2014 at 7:11 pm #226379Erik is actually very right, I just tested what he said, if you add the www. before you domain within WordPress general settings/ site address URL, you need to make sure your database name also includes the www. other wise the Chinese characters will show instead of Icons and many other issues will be caused.
Thank you both.
February 19, 2014 at 7:22 pm #226388One more thing I forgot to mention that might be helpful if anyone else is dealing with the issue, is that both the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) in WordPress general settings need to contain the www. otherwise the problem will not be solved.
