    Hello,

I have an issue regarding permalinks and portfolio entries. This issue occurs when I switch from standard to post name structured permalinks. My portfolio entries link to the right URLs but when I click on them, a 404 error appears.

I read a tread on the same issue advising to add a short script in function.php to flush permalinks, but it didn’t work.

Here’s the link to the portfolio : http://www.goldeneggproduction.ch/versionbeta/ongoing-projects/
    Could you please help?

    Many thanks in advance,
    Catherine

    Hey cbrand!

Can you please flush the permalink settings again? Go to Settings > Permalink then click the “Save” button once. This should flush it. If you have access on .htaccess file, please delete them then flush the permalink settings once more.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hey!

Make sure that the name you have for your portfolio permalink is not duplicated *anywhere* on your wordpress install for any other page name or slug name.

WordPress can not have duplicated slugs in any instance.

    Cheers!

    Hi Devin,
    Thanks for your advice.

I checked all the permalinks, slugs and page names. I had category slugs that were the same as page urls (film-fr, film-en) so I changed them.

Now I have 2 pages that have the same name (films) but their urls are different:
    http://www.goldeneggproduction.ch/versionbeta/films-fr/
    http://www.goldeneggproduction.ch/versionbeta/films-en/
I didn’t find any other duplicates.

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Catherine

    Hi!

Many thanks for your responses. I’m not using WPML (although I know I should) but Xili-Language. It doesn’t seem to have a string translation extension as WPML do. Do you think there’s another solution ?

    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Catherine

    Hi!

I’m not familiar with Xili-Language. Your best bet is to contact the plugin author – maybe he can provide an alternative solution. Alternatively you can use WPML to translate the website.

    Regards,
    Peter
