Hi Enfold Support,
We recently upgraded to the latest version of Enfold and noticed that one of our Content Element Blog Post placed on a page is no longer showing excerpts and read more links for a certain category of posts. But another category is. We’ve looked at the settings for the Content Element and the only difference is the category of posts pulling into the Content Element. Links and login for the dev site are in the private content. below. Thanks for your help!January 25, 2017 at 11:32 am #738283Hey Eric!
Do the posts of that category, have available excerpts?
Regards,
BasilisJanuary 25, 2017 at 4:55 pm #738474Most of our posts have excerpts. The excerpts in the previews have always pulled from the post content. Usually the only reason excerpts don’t show in the preview posts is when we use avia layout builder or avia page layout divs. There’s maybe one or two we had to add the excerpt because of this.
Im assuming excerpts should show even if you’re using layout builder right?
January 26, 2017 at 7:20 am #738752Hi,
By default they don’t show if you have saved the post when the builder is active. You can add the excerpt manually if you select to show the Excerpt field in the Screen Options on the edit page. You can also simply switch to the default editor and save the post when it’s active and the excerpts should show again.
Best regards,
RikardJanuary 26, 2017 at 7:24 am #738756All the posts we create use the default wp editor and not the page builder. Any reason why some posts categories are showing excerpts (default blog posts) while others are not? In this case all posts using the “Press Releases” category are not showing the excepts. Aside from the category they posts are identical. Thanks!
January 27, 2017 at 5:55 am #739199Hi,
The excerpt is there in the markup, but it’s hidden with CSS:
.at-wordpress-hide { display: none!important; opacity: 0!important; }
There seems to be a lot of markup being added both inline and by plugins. Why do you add markup in the title of the post for instance?
Best regards,
RikardJanuary 27, 2017 at 6:44 am #739224Hi Rikard, we use the inline styling to change the post title color since the theme and WordPress don’t allow for such styling. But that shouldn’t hide the excerpts. Could you tell what’s causing the CSS to break and hide the excerpts? Thanks!
January 31, 2017 at 7:32 pm #740837Hi,
remove the code Rikard showed you and your excerpt should display again fine. Deactivate any plugins to see if one is causing this issue.
Best regards,
AndyJanuary 31, 2017 at 7:43 pm #740844We actually removed the inline styling and the excerpts returned. Was a pain to manage and caused some issues with search results in chrome.
Any idea why the inline styling would hide the excerpts? Any way to change the title color for all posts that are a specific category? Maybe when using a content element i.e. “Blog Post” you can add options to update the styling of the blog post i.e. h1, etc color picker? Thanks!
January 31, 2017 at 9:03 pm #740877Hi!
It can be the rendering of the CSS, which making such issues.
We can try identify the issue, after we report it to Kriesi.
Thanks a lot for letting ys knowRegards,
BasilisMay 12, 2018 at 12:37 am #955514Excerpts not showing on my blog page. I’ve done this a million times before and now it’s not working. Shouldn’t be this difficult, right?? Links and login below.
May 12, 2018 at 12:01 pm #955682Hi PabloStennett,
When you make posts with the Advanced Layout Builder you need to enable the excerpt field in the screen options and fill out those boxes. (screenshot in private)
If you need further assistance please let us know.

VictoriaJune 25, 2018 at 10:28 pm #977670Hi Team,
I’m reasonably new to WordPress and Enfold and am pulling my hair out trying to get some Read More links to show on blog posts.
They are set to show Excerpts & Read More but DO NOT show Read More Links.
My client will be posting to the blog and he’s not keen to manually set ‘Read More’ (even though I’ve tried this and it doesn’t work either).
Any help would be so appreciated!!

Thanks, SuzeJune 28, 2018 at 3:13 am #978674Hi,
Did you set the Blog Layout > Blog Layout to “Use the advance layout builder..” instead of the default layout? Set it to that option because the blog page is going to ignore the advance layout builder content.
Best regards,
IsmaelJune 28, 2018 at 4:17 am #978698Thanks Ismael. No, I didn’t have Blog Layout set to ‘advance layout builder’.
Its look as it should now. Probably a common error or a rookie like me – thanks again!
