Hi, I’m using the blog post element on my blog page to display the blog posts. I have is set so that the “custom preview image size” is 1500 x 630 (featured large). However when I upload an image that is slightly taller than that ratio, 1500 x 861 for example, the thumbnail appears taller in size than the rest of the Blog thumbnail images that are 1500 x 630 ratio. It appears taller on the actual blog post as well (the blog layout in general options is also set to “featured large”.
How do I make it so that no matter what size image is uploaded for the blog post, the blog post element thumbnails and image that shows on the actual blog post show the 1500 x 630 ratio?

Thank you for your patience and for the login, but it doesn’t seem to have admin rights as most of the features to the site are not available. I’m not sure why this one post is different from the others but the dates are from 10/2019 was this site imported?
This one post is not using the cropped 1500×630 image as all the other ones are it is using a srcset of images none of which is 1500×630 and I don’t have access to investigate further. The source image seems to be 964×528 and not 1500×861 as posted above.
The featured_large image size should be cropped unless it has been overwritten by your child theme or an image optimization plugin.
Your Blog Post element has also been modified so there really is no way to ensure that it will work correctly, please compare these screenshots.

September 16, 2021 at 12:18 pm #1321202Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, I found that the featured image used for the post was 967×725 which is smaller than the images you wanted to use 1500×630, when I uploaded an image larger than 1500×630 the correct featured image was used.
So the desired outcome from the opening post is occurring, the only issue was that your image was actually smaller than you thought in your opening post.Best regards,
MikeSeptember 16, 2021 at 11:18 pm #1321287Is there a way to ensure that no matter the image size uploaded, they always get resized to the 1500 X 630 aspect ratio on both the blog element thumbnail as well as the actual blog post image?
September 17, 2021 at 11:35 am #1321362Hi,
This will occur if the image is larger than 1500×630 with the crop function, if your image is smaller you will need to resize before uploading.Best regards,
MikeSeptember 17, 2021 at 2:50 pm #1321393Hi Mike, Thanks! Is there anything we can do to make the image autosize to that dimension no matter what size image is uploaded? Our client is requesting this, so we are trying to make that happen for them. Thank you so much for your help!
September 18, 2021 at 6:53 pm #1321455Hi,
My research points to this plugin Resize Image After Upload or this one Imsanity but I didn’t test either.
But interesting I found that almost all of the information I found was about scaling the images down, on the WordPress tutorials it says to use the scale image option:
but you can not scale up, and if you click on the help icon it says: Images can only be scaled down, not up.
So it seems this can’t be done manually in WordPress.Best regards,
Mike -
