Hi all and happy new year!

Long-time Enfolder here with a stable, old Enfold site updated to the latest version of course.
Maybe I’m missing it, but I don’t see the blog categories on my blog posts anymore.
    For example this one:

used to show a category of “Marin hikes” but I don’t see a category anywhere.
Actually, I *think* it used to show a category, but when I look in the wayback machine for Dec 2021 I don’t see the category here either:
    https://web.archive.org/web/20211203135254/https://www.thomashenthorne.com/freitas-parkway-terra-linda-hike/

I went into Enfold settings and toggled off and then back on the “display blog category” and also checked this post to make sure a category is specified (it is).

Any thoughts? Is it there somewhere and I’m missing it? This is important because I want people to be able to click on “marin hikes” and see all the hikes in Marin County.

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for using Enfold :-)

Are you using the Layout Builder to create your post? If so, then you would have to add the meta data manually to it, using the Post Metadata element.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
Thanks for the response. Yes, I am using ALB. Upon further investigation, this is occurring ONLY on posts created with ALB. Posts created using the classic editor show the category at the top of the blog post along with the title. With ALB title is turned off (is there a way to turn it on?) and no category shows.
Here’s an example of a blog post made with the classic editor, and it shows a category “Marin Lifestyle” just about the title:

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, so looking at your ALB created post /freitas-parkway-terra-linda-hike/ I see that you use a text element to show the title, you could use the Post Metadata element to show the categories:

Hi Mike, got it, I learned something new today and it’s only 8:30 am woo hoo. haha. It seems like this is a nice workaround, but I’m 99% sure that these categories just used to show up when in Enfold settings you toggle under :Blog Meta Elements” to display the “blogpost category.” I am noticing that the two I have turned on, blog post date and blog post category don’t display, so why have a setting for that? That’s why I was thinking this might be a bug. Yes I am using a text element to show the title — is there a different way to show the title? I am wondering if I used that if it would display the “blog meta elements” under Enfold settings — > Blog Layout.

    Thanks!
    Rob

    Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, when you create a Advanced Layout Builder post the title is typically added from the Layout admin sidebar with the Title Bar Settings
    Enfold_Support_0032.jpeg
the categories are not added automatically thus the Post Metadata element, the Blog Layout ▸ Blog Meta Elements is for the default editor posts.
You can test this by enabling or disabling the Blog Layout ▸ Blog Meta Elements ▸ Blog Post Date and note how in the default posts the Blog Post Date is shown or not, but in ALB posts the Blog Post Date is not shown unless you use the Post Metadata element, this is the same for the Blog Post Category, Blog Post Comment Count, etc.

    Best regards,
    Mike
