I started having problems a few days ago, where clicking a text block on a previously published page in the admin will often bring up a blank box saying “Click here to enter your text.” It’s unpredictable…sometimes my page content shows up and I can edit it, but most often it’s blank. Also, I’ve got a 1/4 – 1/2 – 1/4 column arrangement inside a color box, and the 1/4 column on the right will often drop down under the 1/2 column in the admin…then when I publish my changes, the content appears twice–once in the 1/4 column as it should, and again at the bottom of the 1/2 column area. A new text block with duplicated content is in that spot, and sometimes has to be deleted a few times for the changes to publish properly.

I updated all my plugins, the Enfold theme, and WP to 3.8. I have also tried turning off all plugins and still seen this behavior. Any ideas? We’ll be giving the client access to edit their site pretty soon, and we need for it to be a dependable experience.

    Hi ecdave!

Can we take a look at the installation live? You can create a temporary admin account and then post the details here as a private reply by clicking the checbox under the reply for “Set as private reply”.

    Cheers!

    Hi!

Please update your theme to Enfold v2.4.4. Kriesi include some fixes for WP3.8 and maybe the update will solve your problem too.

    Regards,
    Peter

    Hello–

A couple of questions for you, please:

    1) Is v2.4.4 safe for me to install? I see that with previous updates, users were advised to wait a few days, plus I don’t see an entry in the changelog yet.

    2) I actually have the auto-update feature enabled in my WP admin, and it says that I’m using the latest version. However, in the WP “Theme” panel it says I’m still using 2.4.2. Have you heard of any problems with the auto-update feature?

Actually, I see that I can manually update from the WP admin, where 2.4.4 is listed, so I will do a backup and try it now…but I hope you can help me with these questions.

    Thank you–

    Dave

    Hi!

The theme update is using the Envato update plugin code which pings the ThemeForest servers every 12 hours and checks for an update. As far as I know it has not been updated to auto update like WordPress core and plugins can.

    Cheers!

    Hello–

I am running WP 3.8 and have installed v2.4.4, but I am still having my original problem. We are attempting to launch this site ASAP but I can’t edit pages properly while these problems persist. Do you have some more ideas for me?

    Thanks

Have you tried deactivating Ultimate TinyMCE and testing it?

    #204704

    Hi Devin–

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem still occurs. There are very few plugins on this site, and anyway, it worked until recently. I tried deactivating the others as well with no luck.

As I say, the problem is persistent but occasionally some pages can be edited. So I have taken to recreating the content on another “test” page, opening the “live” page, and pasting the html into the text block to insert my changes. However, upon saving the entire text block disappears. Not just the content–the whole element.

If you like, I can do a screen capture video and send you a private link so you can see this behavior. Please advise, and thanks.

    Hi!

Did you add any div tags? Please check the html markup if there are any unclosed tags. Kriesi tested a website once and he found out there are multiple tags that are not closed properly.

    Regards,
    Ismael
