Best Practice for positioning sidebar on a Custom Post Type Archive Layout

Hey there,
Before I go getting crazy on this theme, I wanted to confirm something.

Is it possible to re-position the sidebar on a custom post type archive page? Right now the sidebar defaults to the right, I’d like it on the left is all. I know I can use CSS to float it properly, but if there’s a better practice or something else that would do the job more efficiently, I’d like to know.
