Hello. I bought this theme thinking I could simply upload it onto wordpress.com. That is not working so now it appears I may have to actually download the wordpress software from wordpress.org. Is that correct?

If that is the case, I’m not sure this is going to work for me.

However, let’s say I do that and design the site in the software, can I then transfer it to wordpress.com? Is there any advantage or disadvantage of doing so?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi Drew Malm,

    Thanks for contacting us!
Wordpress.org is the homepage of the WordPress software where you download the software itself while wordpress.com is a hosting service that has WordPress already installed, if you have already subscribed to wordpress.com then you can just log in to your account then install Enfold in Appearance > Themes, Add New, then upload the theme.
If you’re not subscribed, you will most likely need to purchase a domain name and web host (majority has options to install WordPress in their dashboard/Cpanel).

That’s great to hear it will work on WordPress.com as I am subscribed as a Business member.

I’m trying to install it the way you described but it keeps giving me an error message:
    Problem installing theme: initiate_transfer_error

    Please advise.

    Hi,

That’s is not a theme error, what exactly are you doing when it happens? Did you try uploading the theme under Appearance in the WordPress menu?

    Best regards,

Just tried again and got this message now:

Installing theme from uploaded file: themeforest-xqFnby4c-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme.zip
    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

    Theme installation failed.

    Hi drewmalm,

Please extract/unzip the downloaded file from Themeforest (right-click over the downloaded zip file and click extract)
This should generate a new folder with the same name as the zip file, open it and look for the enfold folder
Right-click the enfold folder then zip it, here’s a tutorial on how to create a zip file in windows: https://www.howtogeek.com/668409/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files-on-windows-10/ (this should create enfold.zip
Use the enfold.zip file to upload in the WordPress Dashboard.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

Thank you! That worked. Appreciate your help. I’m sure I may have more questions as I move along in the process but will take some time to get acquainted with everything first.
