    Sorry for the delay, I finally got around to trying your solution (sorry been a busy few weeks and didn’t want to mess up the site) but it doesn’t seem to have made the background stretch in IE8.

    I changed functions.php and added the code to custom.css as you mentioned.

    Any idea why it doesn’t work?

    Nevermind! I didn’t add the section class (was confused with the section ID). It works!!! Thank you =)

    Is there any downside to overriding the stretch with this code so it works in IE8? Will it not work as well as the default stretch in newer browsers?

    Hey!

    It will work great on new browsers. What we did is override the theme’s css with a custom one and added the unique background cover property for IE browsers.
