I have found an exploit in the Enfold theme after spending 4-5 hours in testing every single option available to me. Even porting site to different hosts, increasing memory etc etc.
If you add the following paragraph of copy into a new page (or any pre-existing page) via the Avia Layout Builder and into a ‘text block’ element issues will arise. It’s bizarre: there are no peculaiar characters at all. I’ll copy the paragraph verbatim below – please test on your side yourself. If you paste this into a new page with no other content a ‘page not found’ 404 is returned! If you paste into pre-existing content (or even retype!) the Avia Layout Editor will sit with the wheel of death and it won’t load. I’ve tried all other content (bullet points, accordion elements etc) but it’s only once this specific paragraph is interted that the issues arise! It’s crazy. Paragraph follows:
Options range from inviting me into your school to audit your SBM function leaving you with a practical action plan, kickstarting tasks or projects or seeing them through to completion, or providing consultancy through difficult situations where an independent voice and advice can provide objectivity.
As I said I’ve tried tihs paragraph on various Enfold sites and the same issues occur. All plug-ins deactivated. Latest versions of Enfold + WP core. Can you please assist?
August 4, 2017 at 1:56 pm #834337If I remove the ‘s’ from the first word – ‘Options’ to ‘Option’ then all loads fine. WTF?!?!?!?
I assure you, this is no April Fools joke!
August 6, 2017 at 6:23 am #834934Hi,
I can’t reproduce the error on my local installation. Please post admin login details in private and point out where we can reproduce the problem.

August 8, 2017 at 6:09 am #835683Hi,
Thanks for that, though the services page is loading fine on my end. Did you try to clear your browser cache or try to use a different browser? I checked the page in private.
Best regards,
RikardAugust 8, 2017 at 9:14 am #835745Thanks for looking into this.
Question: I ported the entire site over to my dev hosting location and had the same issue. How can the cache be responsible there? Possible?
I didn’t use a different browser, all was witihn FF (latest version) only, I should try Chrome it seems.August 8, 2017 at 1:15 pm #835820The client had changed the offending paragraph so all loaded! I was not given notification of this. I have since pasted back this paragraph and again, the visual page builder WILL NOT load.
“Options range from inviting me into your school to audit your SBM function leaving you with a practical action plan, kickstarting tasks or projects or seeing them through to completion, or providing consultancy through difficult situations where an independent voice and advice can provide objectivity.”
Please review the ‘services’ page again. Thank you!
August 9, 2017 at 6:27 am #836149Hi,
I’ve seen some weird problems but this one beats all of them, I’m getting exactly the same error as you are describing now. Removing the s from Options loads the builder just fine, with the s it’s not loading. Very strange.
The error produced is that the server is throwing a 404 error on the admin-ajax.php file. Why it’s doing that I can’t say unfortunately. I’ll ask some of my team mates to have a closer look.
I tried pasting your text into a “stupid” text editor to get rid of any formatting which can cause problems but I got the same results anyway. Maybe you would try to manually type the whole paragraph to see if that helps?

RikardAugust 9, 2017 at 8:06 am #836219Thanks for looking into this. I copied and pasted from a text editor, then retyped ALL text content, then rebuilt the entire page twice!! Three separate steps altogether. I assure you I’ve run the gamut of what is possible. Note if you pop this paragraph into a text block ONLY on a new page it will exit the CMS back-end and load an error page of some sort on the front. Might help with bug testing.
August 10, 2017 at 6:05 am #836748Hi,
I’m sorry but we’re still not sure what is causing the problem, though it seems like it’s triggered by keywords like Get, Select, Options etc. Is there any chance you could change the wording?
Best regards,
RikardAugust 10, 2017 at 7:22 am #836782Ok sure. Thanks for investigating.
