    Working on the new theme layout over the weekend for 5 hours and at the end of that 5 hour stint I was 90% of the way there when I updated the page to see what it would look like and it deleted ALL my progress. I had to start from scratch.

    Two questions: Can I recover my data? How can I avoid this from happening again?

    Hi LOGTJM!

    It’s uncertain if you can recover it (maybe your hosting provider can give you a better answer), to prevent this we highly recommend using a Child Theme, please see this video:
