Hi,
I am quit new with wordpress but built my fresh and new website with the beautifull Enfold theme and is running smooth till now… >> http://www.gmap.nl
out of the blue i do get issues with uploaded media files, as it is creating a lot of smaller files as well in the media library when checked in the windows explorer. This was not the issue at all until one weeks ago ( not sure if it is after a wordpress update ).
Also grid layout in my blog and the featured image is showing the worng file dimmmensions. I have no clue what happend or how to fix so i hope somebody know what happens. I already tried to put the image sizes to “0” in the media settings but this does not help.
I add some screenies to make it more clear :-)
As you can see the other pictures exist only once in the library.

April 11, 2017 at 3:23 pm #776105Hey dinovandoorn,
Please see the following article for preventing multiple file creation http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-prevent-wordpress-from-generating-image-sizes/
As far as image size manipulation manually, WordPress is cropping by default and you can control image sizes easily with a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

April 11, 2017 at 4:09 pm #776148Hi,
In some cases its the result of an installed plugin, or possibly just a default feature of the theme, but this is not the case for Enfold. Were there any plugin installs or updates prior to the image uploads behaving this way.
Best regards,
Jordan ShannonApril 11, 2017 at 4:59 pm #776188I think it was only an WordPress update that was installed on my Synology. I do have two NAS devices running and both devices have the same issue with these images. One nas is a fresh install and the other was already running for some time but had a wordpress update.
I also deactivate all plugin’s and i have not seen updates on my plugins….- This reply was modified 7 years, 7 months ago by dinovandoorn.

Can you link me to the new post.

Jordan ShannonApril 14, 2017 at 9:22 am #777723I created a fresh post “C-40C Clipper at Schiphol” in my “Fence Check” menu section, as I always did before in exact the same way… but it shows complete different picture sizes and I do have 76 !!!! files in my library folder in stead of just 4 !!
1: As you can see the image on top is displayed very small, and yes I can select other sizes so this is not a biggest issue…. but in the past it was scaled to fit automatically and i had not to select any format
2: The Easy slider is also taking the wrong size of my pictures
3: The gallery is also showing the wrong size of my pictures as it is clipping my pictures in the thumbnails and when openend it shows a smaller size as the original.
4: my featured image is also showing the wrong size (bigger then the others) Featured image size
And as you can see on other post like these it is automatically scaling the way I want :-)
If I use one of the old pictures already in WordPress these are single uploads and still working well as shown at the bottom of the post. The Original uploaded pictures have all exact the same size (my default GMAP pictures)
Btw also updated the theme to 4.0x as it was 3.8x if i am correct but did not change the issue. Also rolled back the wordpress installation to 4.7.2 instead of 4.7.3 but also no effect.
I hope this explains my issue.

April 14, 2017 at 11:52 am #777772Hi,
I came across this past thread that offers an explanation as to why this happens. Please view it here. As I mentioned above it could be a default WP function, but also check if any plugins are causing this as well.
Best regards,
Jordan ShannonApril 14, 2017 at 12:36 pm #777789I already removed all my plugins before but did not change a thing.
April 14, 2017 at 1:01 pm #777796Hi Jordan,
Sorry but this plugin in your link mentioned is also not the solution :-( and i deleted all plugin as well not a solution as well :-(
It looks like if the Enfold theme is not able to scale anymore any of my pictures but need generate a lot of extra images sizes and then choose the wrong ones…
have you been able to login into my WP to have a look your self ?- This reply was modified 7 years, 7 months ago by dinovandoorn.
April 15, 2017 at 12:06 am #778108Hi,
I have edited the following in functions.php:
//avia_backend_add_thumbnail_size($avia_config);
Can you please test to see if the issue is still occuring?

Jordan ShannonApril 18, 2017 at 3:29 pm #779373Hi Jordan,
I have no clue what your trick did but at the end i decided I am not able to solve the multiple upload of images to the library and have chosen to live with that. I registered two extra image sizes in functions.php en removed all the others. Now WP/Enfold Theme create 9 pictures and I delete 7 of them and with the two remaining it covers all my image sizes at my side.
I also removed everythig from my NAS server to restart and with a clean install of WP it started with 9 images for start-on and when enfold was installed an extra 10 images (so 19 total) are created. Some for sure something changed in wordpress and impacts on enfold as well.
Hopefully you will find a solution in the near future and will it work as it did before.
For now thx for all your eford to help me out.Dino
