I wanted to ask if it is possible to auto start a video (Background Video) on tablets but not on mobile devices.
Regards M.

Auto play is unfortunately disabled on all mobile devices due to manufacturer limitation.

thx for your answer.
But is it possible to show a video on tablets and on mobile devices only show the background image?
Now you can either show a video or a background image for tablets and mobile devices.Regards M.

I’m not sure if I understand what you mean by that but since auto play is disabled on mobile devices (tablets included), it would not be possible. But like you mentioned you can set a fallback background image in the Color Section element.
Thanks,
RikardApril 8, 2016 at 11:36 am #610173Hi,
thanks for your reply. Let me try to explain it to you in more detail:
We got a site with a autoplay video and a fallback image (which is provided as you mentioned above by the Color Section). Everything works fine. Our customer told us, that there is a lot of tablet-traffic on the site and that he wanted to provide the video for the tablet cusomters as well, since the video is just pure awesome and communicates the message in a perfect manner. Therefore my question:
Is it possible to restrict the fallback image just to the smartphone/mobile devices, but show the video in the background on tabelt devices (with a play button)?Hopefully I was able to clearify my question :)

as far as I know it’s not restricted by the vendors of those devices, that’s why you need to use a fallback image on mobile devices. However, maybe this will work for you: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/video-background-mobile/#post-252474

April 16, 2016 at 4:23 am #615270Hi,
I’m not sure if that would be possible or not, but I think it’s not. Either way it would take a lot of customisations to the theme and would be considered custom work unfortunately. If you are looking to hire a freelancer to help you out we recommend Codeable.
