Hi! I have been using gifs for as the featured image in my masonry portfolio. What is strange is that the same gifs work within the projects as well as the portfolio grid element but not in the masonry.
Thanks!

Typically WP brakes gif’s during the upload and re-sizing, try using the full-size option when choosing the gif for your masonry.
More info
If this doesn’t help, Can you please include a admin login in the private content area and link to page so we can take a closer look.Best regards,
MikeMay 27, 2018 at 11:25 pm #962897thanks for the input – for the featured image i can’t choose any size. And i think that the gif survived the upload because the same gif works in a different setting.
The project in question is: The museum of the 21st century and it’s feature image.
thanks for looking into this. login below
May 30, 2018 at 2:55 am #964004Hi,
Thank you for the login, I found that the featured image that shows on your “work” page is a resized image that has no animation, while the image in the post is the full size image. Please compare the links in the Private Content area.
I see you have the plugin Simple Image Sizes installed, please try changing the size for the “featured_large size” to 0 (zero) this should keep it from being created and force the original image to be used. Then use the “Thumbnail regeneration” option to rebuild your thumbnails.
If this doesn’t help try doing the same for the “portfolio size” images, as that might be the image used since it is a portfolio item.Best regards,
MikeJune 1, 2018 at 6:38 pm #965513thanks! I’m afraid that didn’t work – I also reuploaded and regenerated the image size in the portfolio item, but that didn’t do anything either.
Any further ideas? ThanksJune 2, 2018 at 3:38 am #965648Hi,
I see that your thumbnail still uses a resized image, I think that if you play around with disabling the different sizes that you can find the correct one, or combination of ones to force your full size gif to show and play.
But I have also found that we can force the correct one to be used via css, I added this to your WordPress > Customize > Additional CSS, and now your gif plays:#top.page-id-28 #av-masonry-1-item-693 .av-masonry-image-container { background-image: url(https://www.dev.your-site.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/museum-of-the-twentieth-century-zerza_anim_no.gif) !important; }
Best regards,
