What’s going on? Just upgraded and for a second time this year I’ve lost all my sliders!

(Now, just rolling back to version before upgrade).

    Hi jonrouse!

Please make sure that you are using the latest version of the theme which is currently 3.6.1 – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

    Hi Yigit,
I’d just downloaded from Themeforest about an hour ago. I removed all modifications and the sliders were still broken. Fortunately I took a backup of the previous install, so I’m uploading that and going back to the version I was previously using.

I need help with something in the update anyway, please see the other thread.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Have you flushed browser cache and refreshed your page a few times – http://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Hard_Refresh after updating the theme? There should not be any issues. I believe what you seen when you updated the theme was caching related

    Best regards,

Oh, okay. I did try a few hard refreshes yes, and nothing was helping. I found the PHP file from my other thread and changed that, and thought that may have been the problem. So replaced with the clean version, and it still had the problem. So then I removed all quick CSS and still nothing happened.

Our client won’t be happy persevering with this, so I had no choice than to go back.

Their host installed a plugin called Supercacher or something, when he moved the server. So I’m wondering if that was the problem all along.

    Hey!

Most probably that was it. You can refer to this post – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/move-from-a-local-installation-to-a-live-server/ and create a testing environment and you can apply all the changes/updates there before applying to them on your live site.

Hmm, perhaps too advanced for me on this site.

Can I have two versions of Enfold in the Theme folder? For instance, upload the new one and call the folder Enfold New, or would it lose all of my settings?

    Hey!

It is not a good idea to have more than one of the same time under one installation. It is not difficult to create a testing environment but if you need help you can always hire a freelance developer.

    Cheers!

I’ve moved 3.4 into a different directory and just re-uploading 3.6.1 now. I’ll flush the caches again and report back. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Bingo! Okay, so now I know supercacher needs clearing after a theme update, good to know.

Also, made the changes to the PHP file and that functionality is working a dream!

Thanks for your help and patience Yigit!
