    Hi all,

    Really odd situation here.

Woke up to find most/all my image links on the site are broken (more keep showing up – maybe my cache is refreshing?).

    Here is what I know:
    – The images are still in the Media Library and on the server
    – The image FILE NAME now has a ‘1’ on the end, eg instead of …/pic.jpg, it now says …/pic1.jpg
    – All the problem images have this ‘1’. When I remove it, it directs back to pic.jpg and everything is fine.

What’s going on? Why have all my file names in WP suddenly got a ‘1’ on the end, but still appear fine in Media Library?
Have not installed any new plugins in the last few days, but I did upgrade the Enfold theme.

    Please help. Thanks in advance.

    Hey!

I’m not noting the issue, your website looks fine. Have you tried seeing it on a different computer/device?

    Cheers!

    Hi James,

I’ve gone through and fixed all the images now – it’s a live site with quite a few visitors, eek. That’s why it looks OK again. :)
When editing each page, the images were all broken (pointing to xyz1.jpg). I had to re-select each one from the library and update.

The broken images appeared on my PC, mobile, another laptop, and a few visitors reported it too.

Quite concerned how this would have happened though, or why? The pages hadn’t been edited for months according to the revision history.

What would change the URL and append a ‘1’ to the end?

    Hi,

Definitely not something related to the theme, my guess would be some caching plugin or a server-side functionality.

    Hi James,

Thanks for your help. It seems to be a WP backup plugin was causing the issue. Now that I’ve deleted the plugin, will wait and see what happens.

    Thanks again.
