October 28, 2017 at 10:25 am #869829Hi, I’ve been using Enfold for years, always with a child theme. I just updated WordPress to version 4.8.2 and then updated the Enfold parent theme to version 4.2. Specifically, I tried updating the parent theme, but the update did not complete, and the theme appeared to have been corrupted. I then deleted the “enfold” directory containing the parent theme, and I left the child theme untouched. I then downloaded a new zipped version of Enfold from themeforest.net, uploaded it to the directory that contained the old theme, and extracted the files. Everything seems to be back to normal, except that all of my custom content in the footer and the blog sidebar have been removed and replaced with default content. If you have any ideas of the cause or can suggest how I might recover the lost content, I would really appreciate it! Thank you! October 28, 2017 at 11:33 am #869850I believe I have solved the issue. The custom widgets were saved but deactivated. When I visited Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets through the WordPress dashboard, I was able to drag my custom widgets back into the footer and blog sidebar. To save time for everyone else, I thought I’d post the apparent fix here. However, I currently have another problem that I believe is unrelated to the theme, and as a result, I’m unable to check the blog sidebar. In any event, this seems to have fixed the issue with the footer, so I suspect the sidebar will be no different. October 28, 2017 at 12:50 pm #869874Hi ProMathTutor, Glad you got it working for you! And thank you for sharing! :) Can you describe the other issue a bit more and post credentials, please. If you need further assistance please let us know. Best regards,
VictoriaOctober 28, 2017 at 1:18 pm #869894Hi Victoria, Thanks for your reply. I’ve determined that the other issue was with my web host, not the theme, and the solution I described to the footer and sidebar problem did work. So, I’m all set for now. Thanks again!
