    I have a big problem: I have updated to WordPress 4.6 and I can no longer use/access the Advanced Layout Editor. Randomly it will either show a spinning wheel (loading indication) but nothing happens or I select the Advanced Layout Editor and nothing happens (not even a spinning wheel).

    I have tried re-installing WP 4.6, tried de-activating all plugins, tried renaming the entire plugin directory via FTP but the problem is still there.

    Would you happen to know what I can try next to solve this issue?

    I just found out that the problem seems to be isolated to Pages. With all plugins activated the advanced layout editor is working fine in Posts.


    @globalgreenconsultancy    : does the advanced layout builder work for you in Posts but not in Pages?

    @winnierandbuzz I loaded your web site and I could see the pages when editing.
    can you let us know a spesific one you could not use, so we can review it properly?

    Hi, sure. Pages send in private section. The advanced layout editor does not work when I add a new page either.
    You mentioned you could see the Pages. Do you mean you could use the advanced layout builder?

    I tried multiple browsers (safari, chrome, firefox) with complete cache refresh but none worked…

    Same problem here, Advanced Layout Editor not working in pages, but works fine in posts, it just stopped working while I was editing some pages today.

    I have same problem. Advanced Layout Editor doesn’t work in pages. Moreover I can’t edit anything in existing page which i made with Advanced Layout Editor.

    In you should ever have problems in the future then please start new threads and include admin login details in private, otherwise it’s very difficult for moderators to give you personal help and to check the problems on your specific site.

    Hi Rikard, thanks for replying. I did try all the suggestions at and I have provided login details in my opening post.

    Some others joined this thread as they are having the exact same issues and apparently none of the suggested solutions worked out (at least not for me). I tried other posted solutions as well that I found in other recently opened topics but no luck.

    Could you please take a look at my website and see if there is another solution then the ‘standard’ ones?

    I got it working again. Here’s what I did (but do please note that things might work differently at your hosting provider) and please only do this if you know what you’re doing as you will delete your whole database!
    versions: WP 4.6 and Enfold version 3.7.1 with child theme
    1) made a full back up of the database by exporting a full dump in Plesk
    2) in phpMyAdmin I dropped all tables (again: this will delete everything so use with care!)
    3) in phpMyAdmin I imported the full SQL dump created in step 1
    4) logged on to the website: Advanced Layout Builder is working fine in all places (Posts, Pages, Portfolio Items) tested on iMac Safari and Firefox and working on iPad
    5) Activated all plugins at once: Advanced Layout Builder still working.

    For me this seems to work (let’s hope it still works in a couple of days) and maybe this works for you as well.

    UPDATE Aug 27: all still working fine for me after many use

    @winnieandbuzz    : I’m not sure how and why that method fixed the issue but I don’t think users experiencing the same issue should follow it because it’s a bit too risky. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

    @ismael; I fully agree, my fix is not for the faint-hearted. Another fix that seems to work is creating another admin profile.

    Hi,
    I have a similar though slightly different problem: the advanced layout does not load on existing posts but it can be loaded for creating new ones. I tried deactivating as many as plugins I could but still. It seems like an ‘exhaustion’ of resources to me. At what level? I’m not sure. Any ideas?

    I’m having the same problem in posts and pages. I either get nothing or a dial spinning where the editor should be.

    This is on Enfold 3.7.1 and WP 4.7.1

    All plugins are deactivated – makes no difference.

    Switched from FireFox to Chrome – no differnce

    My Enfold options panel insists I have the most current version of Enfold installed…. I see that I do not.

    So why does it say that? Ugh.

    Hopefully themeforest has the latest version for me to download.

    Frustrated the auto update feature doesn’t work.

    I was able to get the latest version & installed it & the functions are back!!

    Thanks for all the great documentation and forum help.

    You guys are the BEST!

    Hi @Rikard – thanks!! Yes I did. I don’t know why the auto update wouldn’t update to 3.8+ (latest version) it was stuck on 3.7 – whatever and when I did “manual check” it said I had the latest version of the theme.

    I had to install the latest version manually – I hope that fixes it & it will auto update again.
