I have tried searching for an answer to this but have been unable to find anything.
For some reason, when selecting the Advanced Layout Builder and inserting a Text Block, the editor is defaulting to Text, not Visual. It also defaults to Text when editing existing Text Blocks on pages. I am having to constantly switch it to the Visual tab everything I edit something. Is there something that can be done to default it to the Visual panel?
I am running WordPress version 4.1 with Enfold version 3.0.4.
Thanks in advance.

I think WordPress is supposed to save your preferences now. If you activate the default theme it should still be doing the same. Try clicking on the Visual tab and then save the post and then navigate elsewhere and then back to the post and it should open up in the Visual editor again.
Cheers!

It doesn’t. It always defaults back to the Text tab. It didn’t always do this but I’m not sure when it started.
RickJanuary 6, 2015 at 10:16 pm #375869Hi!
If you use the default editor it will but I do not know of a way to do this with the advanced layout editor. Since it gets added via AJAX there is probably a function that needs to get called. I’m not sure if it’s possible but if it is it would most likely take a lot of time and code to troubleshoot so it would have to be considered custom work. If it’s a must need feature then you can try hiring a freelancer to help you out with customizing that.

ElliottJanuary 7, 2015 at 12:30 am #375934For what its worth… this tab issue only happens with the Text Block in the Advanced Layout Editor/Avia Layout Builder. Is the advanced editor a 3rd party piece to the the Enfold theme code? Is there a way to update it? Perhaps a website for support with it?
Since ease of editing and layout is at the core of Enfold… I’d like to see this bug/glitch addressed. I author in WordPress because I’m tired of dealing with code and want to utilize the functionality of the visual editor. There has to be a way to fix this.
January 7, 2015 at 10:54 am #376050I’m in agreement with the original poster that this issue seems to have only started recently (not sure yet whether it coincided with a WP or theme update) and I actually consider it to be a MAJOR problem.
I have streamlined my client’s site for ease-of-use by their staff, some of whom are not very tech savvy, and this throws an unexpected roadblock in their way.
As I understand from a thread here (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-make-tinymce-advanced-default-editor-instead-of-html), when it comes to the built-in visual editor, WP sets a cookie with the preferred view and then saves it to the DB.
Can someone confirm whether Enfold’s advanced editor does something similar?
January 7, 2015 at 9:54 pm #376480Hey!
It’s not a bug. If you switch to the default editor then you’ll see it’s working fine. It’s just not something we thought to add when building our avia layout editor.
You can make a feature request here, https://kriesi.at/support/enfold-feature-requests/, and we’ll see if we can get something added in a future update.

ElliottJanuary 10, 2015 at 5:56 am #377717Hi Elliott,
I’m not sure that this would be a new feature request, because this “feature”/behavior used to work fine. As far as I can tell, it seems to have been broken by WordPress 4.1.
I just tested a backup of the same site and the problem is recent.
- WordPress 4.0.1 and Enfold 3.0.4 — When opening a Text Block in avia layout builder, the edit window defaults to the Visual tab.

Thanks
January 10, 2015 at 6:14 am #377723Hey!
Yes, seems to be caused by 4.1, in any case you can always downgrade to 4.0.1 and have the text block working as before, i’ll report this to Kriesi though.
Best regards,
JosueJanuary 10, 2015 at 8:09 am #377737I love Enfold but I agree, this is kind of annoying…
