Hi guys,
with the advance layout editor I can’t build my own blog layout (or category view). I do this:
1. I create a new page and call it “blog-category-view”
2. In the Enfold theme options > Theme Options I select the page to display as my blog page.
3. In the Enfold theme options > Blog Layout I choose the “Use the advance layout editor to build your own blog layout (simply edit the page you have chosen in Enfold> Theme Options …)”
4. In the “blog-category-view” page I change to the Advanced Layout Editor
5. In the ALA I place Content Elements, for example a Special Heading and a Blog Element.
6. The Blog Element I configure “Show Blog Elements” , “grid”, 2 columns, Title + Excerpt + Read more – and so on…Then I go to mydomain.com/category/[category-name1] but nothing takes effect. There appears nothing other but only that old simple and normal standard blog layout (and, besides, it’s missing a featured image)
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help,

I might be misunderstanding what you are trying to do here, but if you are trying to edit a category page using the builder then I have to inform you that it’s not possible unfortunately. If I’ve misunderstood you, then please try to explain a bit further. Also, we might need to access the backend to see what you have done so please post admin login details in private with your next reply.
Best regards,

September 26, 2017 at 5:54 pm #857061Hi Rikard,
ok… perhaps we misunderstood that “Use the advance layout editor to build your own blog layout”. And so perhaps the question the other way round: What kind of “blog layout” can we build and edit with the ALA? Do you have an example in your demo sites?
Thanks for your time and best regards,
StephanSeptember 27, 2017 at 7:36 am #857342Hi Stephan,
Building a blog page is really not any different from building a regular page using the Layout Builder, all you have to do is to use the Blog Posts element on the page to display your posts. Other than that you can design the page in question in any way you like. What you cannot do is to build layouts for archive pages like categories, unfortunately.

RikardSeptember 29, 2017 at 2:46 pm #858493Ok, thanks Rikard,
was complete misunderstanding that meaning of “advance layout editor to build your own blog layout”.
I have another – perhaps also silly – question: The is a blog post type / format called “Link”, I can choose on the right side of the editor. But where can I enter or edit the link? When I save such a post, the entry title has an empty href title of the post – for example in category and magazine element listings.
Thanks and best regards,
StephanOctober 1, 2017 at 7:53 am #858868Hi Stephan,
Those layout options are default WordPress and are not controlled by our theme, I think the purpose of them is to have different styling based on what option you select. That is not necessary when using our theme though, so you won’t see any difference what ever option you select.
Best regards,
Rikard -
