HI, I have several custom post types and would like to add the comments box to them. Is this possible?

How did you create them? Make sure they have the “supports > comments” parameter set, http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/register_post_type.

There is an option on the post page to “include comments”, but the form does not appear.

If your pasting it then make sure to paste it inside the text editor. If you paste it inside the visual editor then WordPress will surround it with pre / code tags.
