    Hi Guys,

    Since a couple of days I’m having severe issues with my website. I keep getting error messages 508 and, when opening a post, I can see most of the parameters, but only the loading symbol appears in the advanced layout editor. I’ve taken done some analyses and taken some measures, but no difference.
    1. Hosting company increased memory from 128 to 256 (I assume MB)
    2. Installed Smush and Hummingbird to reduce sizes – some effect on performance (Google pagespeed insights, none on error occurrence )
    3. Deactivated all plugins one by one and analysed performance (no significant effect on performance, none on error occurrence )
    4. Reduced images on my homepage – some effect on initial loading time, none on error occurrence )
    5. installed Enable jQuery Migrate Helper Plugin, as suggested: Only a warning from WordPress occurred, no difference in error occurence )
    The last thing I was suggested to try, was to switch to a lean theme and see if the Enfold is causing the issue. As I’m afraid, I will have to do the whole configuration again, I thought, I might first ask you guys.

    Do you have any suggestions? I’m a bit at the end of my wits. Please help!

    Hi Rikard,

    That’s not good to hear. I have created a ticket at my hosting provider, as I suspect it is actually their problem. Let’s see what they come up with and I get back to you then.

    Hi fren,

    Sure, we will keep the thread open for now.

    It can also be the Smush + Hummingbird combo that is breaking things. You need to deactivate all plugins and activate them one by one :) Not deactivate them one by one.

    Hi Guys,
    First of all my best wishes for 2021! May this year be as good as the past one was ugly.

    The issue #1268159 is still not solved. Over the holidays, I have deactivated all plugins and the theme. After that, I reinstalled WordPress and Enfold and measured performance also after activating the plugins one by one (as Victoria suggested).

    Most dramatic impact on performance is – I am very sad to say – Enfold. Activating the theme reduced the performance of the homepage, measured with Google Pagespeed Insight from 96 to 32. Everything else did peanuts. For measurement purposes, I even replaced the Homepage with a text only page. See screenshots in private content.

    The error 508 Resource Limit reached is still occurring most of the times when I try to edit a posting or page.
    The editor also has difficulties loading posts in the Advanced Layout Editor and I need to switch briefly to and from the Standard editor for the post to be displayed. This sometimes has the effect that a copy of a text box is made and hence displayed twice.

    I really would appreciate your help in solving this issue, as after all I’ve tried, is is clearly caused by the theme. Also, for my website to be attractive, I need to get performance up.

    Hi Frits,

    Thanks for the update. I can’t see any 508 error message on either the front or backend of your site, how can we reproduce this problem? I do see some error messages when editing a post, but none of them look to be related to the theme.
