I’m sometimes getting a 503 error and sometimes a 504 error running version 4.0.3. I reached out to my hosting company thinking the issue was on their end. They got back to me with this:
In this case, the slow error log for the site (where time out errors are logged,) has hundreds of slow errors timing out on the following line:

Currently my site is down. I need this fixed ASAP as it is preventing people from registering for a big event that is being held in a few months.

Thanks!

April 14, 2017 at 4:40 am #777613Hi,
There has been additional releases of the theme since 4.0.3, could you try updating to 4.0.5 to see if that helps please? http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
If not then please post admin login details in private so that we can have a closer look.
Best regards,
RikardApril 14, 2017 at 6:01 am #777635Hi Rikard,
I updated to 4.0.5 and I’m still having issues.
Login details posted.
Thanks!
April 14, 2017 at 6:23 am #777650Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, 504 is a server error and it’s likely not caused by the theme, though this might help you out? https://www.lifewire.com/504-gateway-timeout-error-explained-2622941. We are happy to help you out with this but I think your hosting provider would be in a better position to see what is going wrong, are you in contact with them at all? If not then I would recommend that you do so.
Thanks,
RikardApril 14, 2017 at 2:16 pm #777823Thanks, Rikard.
I have been in constant contact with the hosting provider about this. One of there last messages to me was this:
“In short, it seems that there are a number of slow errors coming from the theme on this site that are taxing the server. We would recommend digging into those to see if anything can be tightened up there. Looks like a number of processes that start there aren’t completing.”
I have several sites with the same hosting provider, all using the Enfold theme, and they aren’t having any issues.

April 15, 2017 at 7:21 pm #778274Hi Rikard,
I ended up removing two video backgrounds I had on the homepage that were hosted on my servers, and that seems to have fixed the issue for now. Could that have been the entire issue? Have you heard of other sites having issues loading when using a video background?
Thanks!
CoreyApril 16, 2017 at 1:32 am #778327Hi,
Yes I have had heard of similar issues with background videos, size is a main issue with host throttling right there with it.Best regards,
MikeApril 16, 2017 at 2:17 am #778336Thanks, Mike!
I’ll look into reducing the size, or hosting them somewhere else, such as YouTube.
