I have two websites both using the wonderful Enfold theme.
One is live and being very successful and my 2nd Enfold site is currently under development.
I’ve updated my ‘currently under development’ website with the updated version of enfold, but it has changed my text font. I have checked this with the one page demo version (which mine is heavily based on) and sure enough the demo version still has the old, correct text font. (see screen grab attached).
How do I get that font back (I have no idea what it was in the first place) ?
Here is my website under development;

And here is the demo of enfold mine is heavily based on (at the moment);

Obviously I am reluctant and unwilling to update my current live website until I am 100% confident 3.5.4. won’t mess that up in any way.
Thanks.
Kindest regards,
Jez

April 29, 2016 at 11:08 am #624237Hi Jez!
We cannot access your site but if you would like to know which font it is we used in our demo it is ” Lato” You cans et the font styles from Enfold > General Styling > Fonts > Defines the Font for your body text (Select Lato ).
The theme settings should not change if you update the theme to the latest version but if you have made any custom modifications without the child theme the changes will be overwritten.
You can backup/Export theme settings from Enfold > Import Export and restore the settings whenever you require.
If you have not made any custom changes to the main theme please feel free to backup theme settings and update the theme to the latest version.

I’ve gone into where you say and rightly so, it had been changed to Lora.
I would really like to understand this concept of Child Theme. Please can you explain ? I have read the support page but didn’t understand it (I’m not a wordpress expert, I have two websites, the live one I did design it and did go into WordPress for most of it, so I know my way around Enfold quite well, but I don’t understand the concept of Child Theme).
I am reluctant at this stage to UPDATE my LIVE (good) website with the latest Enfold because of this text issue I have seen with my currently under development site. I’m scared other things will change (and I no longer have access to my great web developer as he has moved on to another career !).
Is it easy to convert a website to one which uses ‘child’ themes ?
Many thanks.
Kindest regards,
Jez
May 1, 2016 at 9:41 am #625281Hi Jez,
The concept of child themes is to override parent theme files and child theme files won’t be updated. For instance, if you have some code in your functions.php file which adds or overrides functionality of the parent, that code will be safe on updates. If you put it in the parent, it will not. Hope this makes things clearer to you.
Thanks,
