Hi,
It has been a while since I updated Enfold.
Right now I have 3.0.8 and was wondering if I update to 4.0.2 if it will cause any breaks or errors in my website? It’s my client’s site so I need to know if it will cause me (and my client) to have a lot of downtime to fix anything that goes wrong if I update.
We do have some manual edits in the base files (honestly it’s been about 2 years since I’ve done any of this so I don’t remember it all). I’d need to know which edited files to backup before updating.
We are using WordPress 4.7.2

It’s almost impossible to know if anything will break or not, my recommendation would be to clone your site to a local or staging environment first and do the update there to see what happens. If you have made changes to any of the theme files then I would recommend you to move them into a child theme: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/portfolio-item/create-a-child-theme/
