    My site experienced the following error code: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘body’ (T_STRING), expecting ‘)’ in /home/customer/www/cyrconinc.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/framework/php/class-framework-widgets.php on line 771
    My hosting company switched it to a genentic theme which I don’t intend to use. Please help me bring my Enfold theme back to my WordPress site.

    about your child theme: were there previously footer.php or header.php or other replacement files in the child theme folder?
    If yes – then you need to update them to the latest version as well. So you should know for what reason they were there. You will then need to incorporate the changes to these files into the newer versions and upload them instead.
    The footer has received some new features – and an older version of the footer.php of the child theme will not work properly.

    By the way: i use borlabs cookie for a long time – and had never bigger Problems – neither on php7.4 nor on php8.
    If you got some snippets in your child-theme functions.php – you had to look for:

    $(window).load(function(){
    // It is deprecated in php8 now and it must be used:
    $(window).on('load', function(){

    same with .click( … events – now on.(‘click’, …

    Hey boelgebryder,
    Thank you for your question and the link to your site, since it is showing a critical error message it is hard to tell the actual condition of the data of the site, but you can try this:
    via FTP if there is a WordPress core theme in the /wp-content/themes/ with the Enfold theme such as /twentytwentyone/ you should be able to rename the /enfold/ directory to anything else, such as /enfold-old/ and WordPress will typically load the core theme as a fallback. You may have to reload the homepage a couple of times.
    Once the core theme loads you should be able to login and see the condition of the site, posts, pages, ect.
    Also check if the WordPress core needs to be updated and if your server is using PHP v7.4 as a minimum, you can check this at WordPress ▸ Tools ▸ Site Health

    If the pages & posts are there, they probably will show shortcode on the frontend and look a mess, but don’t worry, you can purchase a new Enfold license with your own new account and download the theme zip file from Theme Forest, you will see two links in your account, download the “Installable WordPress file only” option.

    Then to update your version of Enfold you can upload it to your WordPress ▸ Appearance ▸ Themes ▸ Add Themes ▸ Add New
    WordPress_Appearance_Themes_Add-Themes_Add-New.jpg
    after you choose the zip file and click install, you will see a This theme is already installed message because you are updating, you can continue
    Installing_theme_from_uploaded_file_This_theme_is_already_installed.jpg
    then you will see the Theme updated successfully message.
    Theme_updated_successfully.jpg

    Hopefully, this will help bring your site back online and the critical error message is not a result of something malicious.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hey Stephen,
    Typically this occurs when you do not have the PHP ZipArchive Extension installed on your server, you can check by going to LayerSlider ▸ System Status ▸ Server Settings
    2021-12-04_007.jpg
    if you have a red X then ask your webhost to install or activate it.
    Another possibly is that the zip you are uploading is not the theme install zip but the theme & documentation zip which has other files included, check that ther are on other zip’s in your zip file.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,

    Sorry for the problem. It will be fixed in next release 4.8.7.2.

    I uploaded via ftp the modified file to enfold\includes\admin\option_tabs\avia_blog.php and renamed the original to avia_blog_old.php.

    As we do not have a link to your site we cannot check.

    You also find the modified file here: https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library/blob/master/temp_fixes/Enfold_4_8_7_1/includes/avia_blog.php

    Best regards,
    Günter

    Hi Mike
    The issue you mention was already solved by Ismael’s post from September 23, 2021 at 12:36 pm (https://kriesi.at/support/topic/accordion-toggles-deeplinking/#post-1322006).

    Within this same topic I mentioned another issue on October 15, 2021 at 12:20 am (https://kriesi.at/support/topic/accordion-toggles-deeplinking/#post-1325012).

    There is still a little problem with sticky headers on bigger screens. The document scrolls to the top of the toggler but the toggler is covered by the sticky header. On small screens everything is as expected because the header isn’t sticky. Is there a solution for that issue?

    I made a short screen video (see link in private content) that shows what I mean.

    Ismael provided a solution on November 2, 2021 at 2:27 am (https://kriesi.at/support/topic/accordion-toggles-deeplinking/#post-1327367) that has no effect so far. His code is still active in my Child Theme’s functions.php.

    Is there any other solution?
    Kind regards
    Ueli

    Hi,

    After switching to PHP 8.1 my website produces a fatal error (see the error message info in the private content).

    I am running Enfold version 4.8.7.1

    and tried switching of all plungins, but that didn’t help.

    If I switch back to PHP 7.4 there are no issues. Any idea how to solve this?

    PS: I currently run PHP 7.4 again, because otherwise my site would not be accessible.

    Best Regards,

    Roel

    #1331308

    Hello, I have updated the site to PHP 8.0. then came the error messages. After that I switched the page back to 7.4 so that the page works properly. PHP 7.4 will be supported for 1 year from now on. So next year I would have the problem if it is updated to 8.0.

    #1331304

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update. What exactly cleared up? I see that you are still running PHP 7.4 on the site, do you still get these warnings and errors when upgrading to PHP 8? If so, then what exact version of PHP 8 are you using then?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    #1331291

    Hello, I think it’s cleared up. It is probably due to the Borlabs plugin.

    Hi thank you very much. I suspect it happened when we had to restore a backup. Do I have to update the enfold theme now? This is not as activated. I have now been able to update the site to PHP 7.4. But if I want to update to PHP 8.0, the page is no longer accessible. Is it the theme? The support from our provider for PHP 7.4 only runs for 1 year. Then we have a problem next year. VG Holger

    #1331268

    Hi,

    Thank you for the info.

    Based on the errors above, there seems to be an issue with the wp-maintenance-mode plugin and some of the theme files are missing. One of the users is also hitting its maximum connection limit.

    Let us walk through the errors one at a time.

    [01-Dec-2021 12:44:16 UTC] PHP Notice: Undefined index: social_instagram in /home/www/actugedinne.be/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-maintenance-mode/views/settings.php on line 516

    The error or warning above states that the plugin is trying to access an undefined index named social_instagram. Disabling the plugin temporarily or completely removing it should prevent the issue from occurring.

    [01-Dec-2021 13:01:04 UTC] PHP Warning: require_once(includes/helper-privacy.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/actugedinne.be/wordpress/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php on line 187

    It says here that the includes/helper-privacy.php and the includes/admin/register-dynamic-styles.php files in the enfold theme directory do not exist. Please make sure that the theme is updated to version 4.8.7.2.

    [01-Dec-2021 13:05:19 UTC] PHP Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/1226): User ‘p5646_19’ has exceeded the ‘max_user_connections’ resource (current value: 20) in /home/www/actugedinne.be/wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1653

    I am not really sure what is causing this error but it looks like the user (see private field) has exceeded the maximum MySQL database connections per user. You may need to contact your hosting provider and ask them about this error.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    In reply to: Menu order

    Hi Mike,

    Thank you for your answer. My menu was not the same because at this time I was in the process to migrate my website. Now that it’s done, the official website is https://cleanaireurope.com

    So I did what you have done on the clone website, on my official website : I removed the ending PHP tag then added the script, it worked. Same for the css code, no problem to save changes. The menu order is displaying like I want so I thank you for that

    But there is 2 things :

    1. The cart stay dark even in transparent mode https://i.imgur.com/RJFyoe7.jpeg

    2. Is there a way I can change some part of your script to equalize the gaps between the menu items https://i.imgur.com/Y04EGdp.png ?

    Thank you.

    On October 28 Ismael helped me with two filters to prevent Google Maps and Google Maps API loading in the backend, see post https://kriesi.at/support/topic/validity-of-code-to-disable-google-maps/#post-1326839

    No complaints, that worked great.
    But today I found this warning after activating wp-debug:
    Deprecated: avf_load_google_map_api_prohibited is deprecated since version 4.5.7.1 with no alternative available. Filter was replaced by theme option in /wp-includes/functions.php on line 5596

    Is there really no alternative? Does the theme option render the same effect (no loading at all)?

    Thanks for your advice,
    Rob

    Hi Mike –

    Many thanks for your reply. I’ve now updated to PHP 7.4.25 and Enfold 4.8.7.1 but I’m still getting the same problem. The editor looks a lot better, with no obvious conflict, but any changes to elements on the page are not saved – if I click on the Update icon, the system reports that the page has been updated, but when I go to view the page I can see that it has not changed. Please advise what to try next!

    In reply to: Bog date not shown

    Hey Stefan,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

    Did you add excerpts to the posts? The post meta info including the date will only display when the post has an excerpt. You can check that in the enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/postslider/postslider.php line 917.

    if( ( $show_meta && ! empty( $excerpt ) ) || in_array( $show_meta_data, array( 'always', 'on_empty_content' ) ) )
    				{
    					// show post meta here if excerpt is not empty
    				}

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    I have installed an older version of enfold or the Enfold Child Theme 1.0 is active. Now I have the problem with PHP 8.0, 7.4 that I get an error message because of the Layerslider plugin. This runs under PHP 7.3 but as soon as I install a higher one, the error message appears in the mobile view. I have now switched the php version back to 7.3. I have just ordered the latest version of enfold via themeforest. Can i update my version? VG Holger

    Hi,
    Thank you for the login, to correct the logo interfering with the menu sub-menus I adjusted the script to this:

    function hide_lower_half_of_logo_on_scroll() { ?>
        <script>
    (function ($) {
      $('.logo, .logo *').css({'max-height':'269px','height':'269px','width':'131px'});
      $(window).scroll(function() {
        var width = $(window).width(), height = $(window).height();
        var scroll = $(window).scrollTop();
          if (scroll >= 90 && width >= 768) {
        $('.logo, .logo *').css({'clip-path':'inset(0 0 63% 0)'});
       } else {
        $('.logo, .logo *').css({'clip-path':'none'});
       }
      });
    })(jQuery);
    </script>
        <?php
    }
    add_action('wp_footer', 'hide_lower_half_of_logo_on_scroll');

    Now the bottom half of the logo image is hidden with clip-path instead of overflow.

    For the anchors landing behind the header you had this function with a negative 50, I changed it to a positive 25 and now it works correctly:

    function avf_header_setting_filter_mod($header) {
    	$header['header_scroll_offset'] = $header['header_scroll_offset'] + 25;
    	return $header;
    }
    add_filter('avf_header_setting_filter', 'avf_header_setting_filter_mod', 9999, 1);

    please clear your browser cache and check.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hey, I don’t know why but after adding the code I got an error:

    Hi,

    I’m running the latest Enfold version (4.8.7.1) and PHP version: 7.4.26, and I’ve been recently experiencing the ALB elements getting messed up, squeezed and mashed alltogether after some saving of a current page.

    I tried to restart a page from zero, hoping the issue would not occur, yet after hours of work, I add one element and then boom, I found the page messed up and can’t get back to a previous version.

    Can you please help sorting this out. It’ looks like a pretty big issue that’s preventing from working on the site.

    Thank you.

    Hey Leon,

    Thanks for the shortcode. Could reproduce the problem and fixed it.
    Will be part of the next update (planned for this week).

    Meanwhile you can replace enfold\config-templatebuilder\avia-shortcodes\testimonials\testimonials.php
    with the content of

    https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library/blob/master/temp_fixes/Enfold_4_8_7_1/alb/testimonials.php

    Do not forget to make a backup of the original file for a fallback and clear server and browser cache.
    If you need help let us know and we can do it for you.

    Best regards,
    Günter

    Hi,

    Right, but it works without even adding the br tags in the blog element

    The blog element actually displays the post content, not the excerpt. And it looks like WordPress do not automatically add paragraph tags or create new lines for the excerpt, so if you want the magazine to work the same as the blog element, you have to remove the post excerpt and modify the magazine.php file, around line 1297 look for this code.

    $excerpt = ! empty( $entry->post_excerpt ) ? $entry->post_excerpt : avia_backend_truncate( $entry->post_content, apply_filters( 'avf_magazine_excerpt_length', 60 ), apply_filters( 'avf_magazine_excerpt_delimiter', ' ' ), '…', true, '' );

    Replace it with:

    $excerpt = avia_backend_truncate( $entry->post_content, apply_filters( 'avf_magazine_excerpt_length', 60 ), apply_filters( 'avf_magazine_excerpt_delimiter', ' ' ), '…', false, '' );

    Just make sure that you are not using any shortcodes in any of your posts because what we did with the modification is disable the function that strips the shortcodes and html tags.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    In reply to: 2 logos in header

    Hi,

    It might be better if you hide the header widget for mobile, then add this in function.php to inject your images under the header:

    function add_after_main_container() {
      ?>
      <div id="mobile-logos">
        <img src="https://nordicanalytics.dk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/115-180x180.png">
        <img src="https://nordicanalytics.dk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/b667e25c660d49b8be3cf163c65cfe1e-180x180.png">
      </div>
      <?php
    }
    add_action('ava_after_main_container', 'add_after_main_container');

    Then add this in Quick CSS to hide/show the correct images:

    @media only screen and (max-width: 990px) {
    #media_image-2 {
      display: none;
    }
    }

    @media only screen and (min-width: 991px) {
    div#mobile-logos {
      display: none;
    }
    }

    Best regards,

    Hi Karin,

    The same error message is displayed when the default WordPress theme is active too, is it the same problem in Enfold and TwentyTwentyOne then? https://snipboard.io/TAsFQ7.jpg

    /homepages/4/d144672631/htdocs/wordpress21/wp-includes/template-loader.php on line 106

    This is a WordPress file, I can’t tell you why it’s throwing those warnings though. If you tried to reinstall WordPress, it might solve the problem though.

    Edit; please try updating your PHP version to 7.4 or higher as well.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    In general – many users are struggling with this and there should be a general solution in the docs or – even better – in the template itself.

    Here is an update:

    /* Mobile Search Form Magic */
    #top #searchform > div {
        display: block !important;
        opacity: 1 !important;
    }
    #avia-menu li.menu-search {
        display: none;
    }
    .av-active-burger-items #searchform{
    	padding-left: 40px !important;
    }

    /**
     * Show search bar on mobile menu
     */
    add_shortcode('avia_search', 'get_search_form');
    function ava_custom_script_mod_search_mobile()
    {
    ?>
    	<script>
    		(function($) {
    			$(document).ready(function() {
    				var page   = window.location.href;
    				var search = '<form action="'+page+'" method="get" class=""><div><input type="submit" value="?" id="searchsubmit" class="button avia-font-entypo-fontello"><input type="text" id="s" name="s" value="" placeholder="Search"></div></form>';

    				$('.av-burger-menu-main a').on('click', function() {
    					if($(".av-mobile-search").find('form').length == 1) return;
    					setTimeout(() => {
    						$("<li class='av-mobile-search av-active-burger-items'>" + search + "</div>").insertAfter('.menu-item-178580');
    						$('.menu-search.menu-item-91335>a').contents().unwrap().wrap('<p/>');
    					}, 300);
    				});
    			});
    		})(jQuery);
    	</script>
    <?php
    }
    add_action('wp_footer', 'ava_custom_script_mod_search_mobile', 10000);

    Hi there

    This is in addition to https://kriesi.at/support/topic/footer-widgets-not-displayed-after-update/.

    Problem description
    One of my clients website uses Enfold with WPML and WooCommerce. After updating from Enfold 4.8.6.2 to a higher version (e.g. 4.8.7.1) the footer disappears for all languages. I made the footer using multilingual footer widgets with four columns each, so column 1 in German, column 2 in German etc. and also column 1 in French, column 2 in French etc.

    I went through the changelog to see which changes have been made to Enfold when it comes to the footer. The following changes might cause the issue, but of course I am not sure about that (just an assumption to help you find the issue hopefully).

    From Version 4.8.6.3
    – added: action ‘ava_before_footer_output’ – fires after a possible curtain container div had been written
    – added: action ‘ava_after_footer_output’ – fires before a possible curtain container container div will be written
    – added: action ‘ava_after_footer’ – fires after footer closing div had been written
    – added: filter ‘avf_show_curtains_media_option’ – show theme option to have more control about footer height to switch back to scrolling with page
    – feature: sticky footer with curtain effect for streched layout (theme option “Footer” tab)

    From Version 4.8.6.4
    – fixed: Notice: Undefined variable: the_id in footer.php

    Thanks a lot for your analysis and please let me know if I can help any further
    Michael
