Hi,
I’m trying to install Enfold child on my WordPress website, but it keeps crashing, and I get this error message:
“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”
I followed the advice on this blog which was to rename the enfold directory via FTP, in order to get access to the WordPress dashboard again. I did this and was able to regain access to the dashboard, but every time I try installing the Enfold theme it keeps crashing the site. I’ve tried it with both the parent and the child theme, and they both crash the site. The version is 5.2.1.
Any help please?
Thanks!

Hello. I used to work with enfold back in the day. My old details in the private content.
Now, I want to buy the license again, but I have a question: Does Enfold works with MAS Videos plugin[https://wordpress.org/plugins/masvideos/]? What I mean is that I want to create a movie/tv series website, where people can subscribe(with Paid Member Subsciption plugin) just like Netflix.
Hello dear Supporters,
after seven years using Enfold, we need to upgrade PHP to 8.0 or 8.1.
We use woocommerce and a child theme. After switching PHP to higher than 7.4, the site shows in front- and backend a fatal error and we have to to roll back to access the backend again.
I deleted the child theme´s function.php and disabled all plugins: it works well on PHP 8.0 and 8.1
Once I enable woocommerce and nothing else, it already shows the same error.
Theme is on 5.2.1
WP is on 6.1.1
Woocommerce is on 7.1.1
We are on a nginx environment.
Could you please help us, since PHP7.4 is running out, as you know, Thank you in advance.
Gunnar
Hi,
We are trying to replace the logo with the company name instead. We tried using the instructions in the documentation: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/logo/ and also from this 2018 support topic: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/replacing-logo-with-text-and-then-control-font-size-and-add-tagline/ but both caused critical errors on the site. It is the only code we had placed in /child-theme/functions.php.
Can you confirm if the instructions in documentation are up-to-date, or provide new details for doing this. Please see the private content for the website URL. There is currently a ‘logo’ of the company name but it is not good quality, which is why we want to use the text instead. Thanks.
Hi Nick,
We have no official support for that plugin, and we haven’t tested the theme with it either. Having said that, we’ve seen many installations over the years running Enfold with that plugin, without any problems or conflicts.
Best regards,
Rikard
Hey,
Thanks for the heads up!
We have uploaded Parallax demo files – https://github.com/KriesiMedia/enfold-library/tree/master/demos :)

Mike,
Thank you for your response! We are working on updating PHP to 7.4/8.1. Since we are using Google Cloud to host wordpress this is not a straight forward process.
While we are trying to do that, Can you pls help in locating the Enfold Parllax theme to download directly? It is not available here :

Thanks
Hi,
in the text block on the Enfold Restaurant Demo Welcome site (https://kriesi.at/themes/enfold-restaurant/), there is a line that has a vertical bar on the left
(to the left of “Nulla consequat massa quis enim. Doncus ut, imperdiet a.”).
How can I change the color of the bar? Now that I’ve changed the color of the bold text, I’d like to adjust the color of the bar as well.
Many thanks in advance!

Hello
What cache plugin do you recommend for Enfold? Thanks for your reply.
Hi Team Enfold,
I had created a Woo Commerce store for layout purposes, but had to delete the plugin again for legal reasons. Now I wanted to install the plugin again and now I get the following error message in the WordPress backend: “Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /home/www/kamieth/layout-keinstuhl/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-download-handler.php on line 559”. The plugin fails to do its job …
Fyi: The theme, WordPress and plugins are up to date – I also tried installing the WooCommerce plugin without any other plugins. The web server is set to PHP 8.0.25 – however, Enfold shows me under Theme Options -> Theme Update: “Your PHP version: 7.4.33”. Is there a solution for this? Thanks for your efforts!
Best regards

Hi Rikard,
the provider (HostEurope) has changed from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8.1. Then we had the so-called “white screen of death”. I contacted the provider’s support and they said that their error message indicated that it was an Enfold problem. I tried to update Enfold manually, but as I could not solve the problem myself, I turned to the Enfold support.
You told me to look at line 51 in function.php. Yigit got wordpress working again after “commenting out” the line. You also told me to look at that line of code on 7 December. That line is commented out, but without it the payment method doesn’t seem to work. I’m worried that I’ll be back in front of a blank page when I try it out….
Best regards, Sonja

Hi
A client would like to have a page that has a form where choices can be made and a price calculated and email collection (similar to this pagehttps://kvalitetsmassan.se/for-utstallare/boka-monter/) the IT dept. connected to this project has recommended a plugin called https://www.gravityforms.com/
Can I please check with you that this would provide a suitable solution and that there would be no conflicts with Enfolds software/ page builder.
Many thanks
Regards
Nick

Hi Ismael,
thank you very much for the answer and the warning.I did put the pixel code to the analytics code to use the common cookie toggle as shown in the screenshot I provided. However it was not exatly the answer to my question which was: Why can’t I toggle the switch shown on the screenshot.
Thank you!
EDIT: I was able to solve it myself.
There is a standard-function in FireFox in the Settings-DataProtections tab to send a “Do not Track” Message to the browser. Enfold seems to respect that and disables the google cookie consent

Hallo Mike
Hi,
Thank you for the screenshot.
Did you place the pixel script in the Enfold > Google Services > Google Analytics Tracking Code field? Please note that the privacy toggle (in the screenshot) will only control the scripts that have been added in the Google Analytics Tracking Code field.
Best regards,
Ismael
Hey threshershark,
Thank you for the inquiry.
Did you check if the ‘includes/helper-privacy.php’ file actually exists in the wp-content/themes/enfold folder? If you can’t find the file in theme folder, please download the latest version of the theme from your Themeforest account, then manually upload it to your server via FTP.
// https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-update/#update-via-ftp
Best regards,
Ismael
Hi,
Thank you for the update.
You may need to add the pre_get_posts hook back for the category and archive pages. Did you set the Enfold > Blog Layout > Blog Layout settings to “Grid”?
Best regards,
Ismael
Hi,
Thank you for the inquiry.
You may need to generate another token with the correct permissions. Please check the documentation below for more info on how to generate a new Envato token with the required permissions.

Good day
I have sent all the files from the newest Enfold version via FTP to the server.
Well after that an error message occurs when I start the website.
see below
Warning: require_once(includes/helper-privacy.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/divesoc1/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php on line 185
Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘includes/helper-privacy.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/alt/php74/usr/share/pear’) in /home/divesoc1/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php on line 185
anyone could tell me what I do need to change?
Thank you
Hi Mike,
Hope you had a nice weekend!
The Dev has successfully updated the loop-index etc and other elements on the Staging site, so we’ll be pushing to LIVE shortly. Thanks again for your help in working out what was happening on the site.
One comment he did make that I wanted to share was;
“…There were some custom styles in the CMS that were overriding the stylesheet. Removing them made the stylesheet apply correctly again. This issue was present on the home page elements. It’s still applied to some other pages. It’s a known issue that is caused by an Enfold update, that is discussed here:
The workaround/fix that I recommend is to unset the styles in the CMS where it applies…..”
Is that still a known issue and is the workaround/fix the best suggested approach?
Thanks,
Cameron

Hi,
Glad to try to help, but I didn’t see any difference when enabling/disabling yoast.
We will leave this open while you double check.
Thanks for using Enfold.
