Gday team Kriesi
I recently added some code to my child theme that seemed to successfully modify thumbnail sizes. It worked in conjunction with the plugin regenerate thumbnails as per many of your support answers.
However, after a recent theme upgrade I noticed the issue return, prompting me to realise that perhaps my child function never did work, and that I may have inadvertently added it to my enfold functions.
I did not mean to do that, and am wondering now whether there is a way to do it ONLY from the child theme.
This is the code I used, but today upon testing it didn’t work for me:
function my_image_size()
{
global $avia_config;
$avia_config['imgSize']['widget'] = array('width'=>120, 'height'=>120);
}
add_action('init', 'my_image_size', 1);
Does that code look like it should work in the child theme? and so not requiring any modification of the parent. Please note, I did also run the regenerate thumbnails but it didn’t work today, so maybe something incorrect in my code?
cheers
Darryl
Hey stewroids!
Set the thumbnail to float left or right and the text should wrap around it. If your still having trouble then send us a link and paste the code your using here.
Best regards,
Elliott
Hi kashmyra!
Thank you for using Enfold.
Every time you upload an image, wp or the theme creates different thumbnails or versions of the uploaded image. Each thumbnails are designated to different elements on the theme such as masonry, lightbox, testimonial, news widget etc. You can remove the thumbnails(not recommended) by using this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
Best regards,
Ismael
Hello!
I’m writing a post right now and I’m trying to wrap text around a thumbnail.Can’t seem to find the text wrap option in the post. Is there a code that I have to insert?
Thanks!
Hey!
What this code does is allow the “Featured Image” option for whatever posts you set it for. We already call it on line 256 in /enfold/functions-enfold.php.
add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails' );
So you shouldn’t need to call it again.
Is the problem that you created some custom post types but are unable to set their featured image? Perhaps you need to set the “supports -> thumbnails” option when you register the post type, http://codex.wordpress.org/register_post_type.
Regards,
Elliott
Hey!
Thank you for using Enfold.
Adjust the Column and Size Settings then install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
Go to Settings > Media panel. Adjust the “masonry” thumbnail size. Update then save changes. Regenerate the thumbnails after.
Cheers!
Ismael
Hey koken13!
Try adding this to the bottom of your functions.php file.
add_filter( 'avf_portfolio_cpt_args', 'enfold_customization_revisions', 1 );
function enfold_customization_revisions( $args ) {
$args['supports'] = array( 'title', 'thumbnail', 'excerpt', 'editor', 'comments', 'revisions' );
return $args;
}

Elliott
Hey!
Have you made any changes on image sizes? As @begrafiks mentioned, thumbnails are not square. You can try adding following code to Quick CSS in Enfold theme options under General Styling tab but it would make images distorted
.avia-testimonial-image img {
height: 80px;
}
Cheers!

Hi – I am running the latest version of Enfold and WP but my thumbnail images are all squashed. See here: http://smarttribesinstitute.com/about/meet-christine/
Thanks in advance!
Hi there,
I really like the magazine style layout for listing posts – just the post title, date and line underneath. I have this working on a blog page styled with the Advanced Page Builder.
Is it possible to replicate this exact format for the category and tag archive pages?
That way all the post listings on the site would be consistent. I know it is not possible to create archive layouts with the Page Builder but wonder if there might be code that would output just the post title and date (as per magazine style) for archives – ie no image/thumbnail or anything else.
Thanks
Hey goch!
Thank you for using Enfold.
The lightbox script is using the large thumbnail size found on Settings > Media panel. Adjust the max width and max height to 9999 then regenerate the thumbnails using this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
Cheers!

Hi rene!
Your code should be working I think. You can also use this plugin, https://wordpress.org/plugins/multiple-post-thumbnails/, to easily add support for your custom post types.

Is it possible to introduce a customised icon such as the giling and white ribbon as an icon to be added with the arrow on the thumbnail links to different pages if so how can this be achieved, can you help or point me in the direction please as I am not familiar with the content: attribute of the css in
.image-overlay.overlay-type-extern .image-overlay-inside:before {
content: “”;
font-family: “entypo-fontello”;
}
please see
http://www.psweb-test1.com/?page_id=3595 and hover over one of the thumbnails. Rather than an arrow I want to put a ribbon here
Many thanks
pete
I’m trying to implement a gallery with small thumbnails. Everything seems okay, but I noticed something weird when I preview the page. The thumbnails just stay greyed out until you scroll all the way down the page, then they load. It’s a bit weird, seems like a bug maybe? Here’s the page: http://deluxeawning.com/2015/?portfolio=retractable-awnings
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks,
Jadyn

Hi, is there a way to create the thumbnails under our main gallery picture to scroll within one row? For example, we recently had an event where we posted many pictures, and with the gallery within Enfold there are seven rows of thumbnails under the main picture, which doesn’t look very appealing (http://www.keenconnections.org/shortcodes/gallery).
An example of this and one gallery we found that we like is the filmstrip gallery from nextgengallery (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/pro-filmstrip-gallery), but we are hesitant to pay the $39 / year fee for just a few galleries on our website. So if the gallery or portfolio within Enfold can accomplish this, or if you can recommend a plugin for a one time charge, that would be great.
Thanks,
Dan
Hi
Thanks Yigit. The thing is this is a work around is it? What if later on I want 8 thumbnails, and then on another section of the page I use the gallery function again with 6.
This css work around fails to resolve the issue am I correct?
I will attempt to switch to parent theme now to see if this resolves the problem

Hi,
My current settings
- Enfold Child > Blog Layout > Grid Layout
- Single Post with Big Preview Image
- Show Thumbnail and Title By default
I’m using the magazine shortcode on a sidebar widget (text).
[av_magazine link='tax-type,279,2,4,3,5,278' items='8' offset='no_duplicates' tabs='aviaTBtabs' thumbnails='aviaTBthumbnails' heading_active='aviaTBheading_active' heading='Products' heading_link='' heading_color='theme-color' heading_custom_color='#ffffff' first_big='aviaTBfirst_big' first_big_pos='top']
There is a pagination at the bottom of the page.
The page displays correctly on Page 1.
On page 2, the sidebar with magazine shortcode is not displaying correctly. It shows only the heading and sort option. There are no images, no thumbnails, no posts titles..nothing.
Did I miss out any settings on this?
Thanks
Hi —
I found some code on the forum for removing the display date from the magazine element which worked perfectly. However, is it possible to remove data from some portfolio categories only? E.g. i am using it to display news one place and events another. For news it is ok to show published date but for events the dates are in the future so publish date does not work.
Also — if not possible i’ll just keep with no dates and add dates to the heading instead, however when the dates are removed the heading gets moved up — is there some quick CSS code i can add to align it in the middle of the thumbnail?
Thank so much – Yanna
Hi!
With images that small I would use the Small thumbnails options in Gallery style instead of the large one. If you want the styling as it is now I would suggest using larger images, around 600px in width will most likely display in a nice way.
Best regards,
Rikard

Hey!
Please go to Settings > Media and increase “Thumbnail size” then regenerate thumbnails using this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

Elliott, our technical wizard in the US just filled me in on the what and why of this issue. I understand now that that the whole picture loads and then is translated into a thumbnail, so any large-ish sized image file will cause this issue. He filled me in, in detail, on how the code functions — and this is helpful to understand the issue.
In the end it comes down to what you said initially, it’s the file sizes that are causing the problem — but now I understand why it’s happening. I’ll shave the file sizes down and I think this will make the issue just about go away.
We can close this issue and thank you for your time Elliott.
Thanks Elliott. I’ve asked my IT friend in the US to also test and he saw the lag mostly in the first image on the home page. I checked the image sizes and they average 400k — the garden image is not 1mb so I don’t know how you calculated that, unless you are talking about the top header image (being the garden) which is about 760k — but has always loaded quickly.
I’m guessing that the Enfold code is loading the page’s thumbnail, plus the code to do the “on hover” text, plus the code to do the lightbox display of the full size image, plus the full size image — all together on the page load, when I think the better approach is to load the full size image at the time the thumbnail is clicked. Or, could Enfold pre-render (to cache) the thumbnail of the full-size image on the server — because the delay here could be the Enfold engine rendering the full size image as a thumbnail on-demand, and not when clicked on, and this is the cause of the slowdown. Not sure? Your thoughts?
Hi again,
Sorry to keep bugging you. I figured out how to hide the thumbnails in the preview gallery to get the effect that I wanted.
#top #wrap_all .avia-gallery .avia-gallery-thumb a {
display: none;
}
But I still have the blurry preview image problem. Any ideas? http://rosemaryjason.com/video-test/
Thanks in advance,
Rosemary
Hey davevi!
Your page is loading for me in 3.3 seconds so it’s pretty fast. Perhaps it’s your internet connection?
One thing you will want to do though is optimize your image sizes. You have them in a one fourth column so you could really use a thumbnail version instead. The garden image is almost 1MB itself. I would aim for around 100 – 200KB.
Cheers!

Hi!
Please add this on functions.php to enable custom fields on portfolio items:
add_filter('avf_portfolio_cpt_args', 'avf_portfolio_add_custom_fields', 1);
function avf_portfolio_add_custom_fields($args) {
$args['supports'] = array('title','thumbnail','excerpt','editor','comments', 'custom-fields', 'page-attributes');
return $args;
}
Test the solution provided above: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/custom-post-types-wp-member/#post-391448
Cheers!
Ismael
Hey!
Please remove the modifications above. Instead of adding the image as background (Slide image & thumbnail), add it as a layer. We created a test slider and page here:
http://chaos2work.com/wp/wp-admin/admin.php?page=layerslider&action=edit&id=6
http://chaos2work.com/wp/test-page/
Check the background layer.
Cheers!
Ismael
upload it and activate it on dashboard
in Enfold Child Theme Options it might be necessary to goto Import Data – the button at top “Import Parenttheme Settings”
I think a Child Theme is a good advice because if you have to change something in your Theme Code it will not be lost by updating the Parent Theme.
A lot of changings here on Board Support work via child-theme functions.php (first of all it is an empty functions.php in the child-theme folder)
f.e. activating the custom.css on template builder elements
add_theme_support('avia_template_builder_custom_css');
or to show in lightbox the full-size image and not the large one:
add_filter('avf_avia_builder_masonry_lightbox_img_size', 'avia_change_gallery_thumbnail_link', 10, 1);
function avia_change_gallery_thumbnail_link($size)
{
return "full";
}
etc pp. the support is full of such changings.
