Hello again. Been a while since you advised me, but only just got around to trying the upgrade.
So, I attempted theme update via FTP.
Deleted all 3.0.8 theme files.
Then uploaded an (unzipped) version of Enfold 4.5, as per your instructions.
(At this stage, still running on WordPress 4.1.25).
Attempted to return to WP Admin area to activate theme, but nothing – ‘white screen of death’ – no admin area (and no web site either, of course).
So, restored my back-up of Enfold 3.0.8.
Admin area starts functioning again. Web site functioning again.
Where do I go from here? If upgrade kills admin area can’t activate theme.
I’d be grateful for any further help you can provide.

Scanning the documentation for those two plug-ins I must say it all looks a bit intimidatingly complex. The level of technical comprehension that appears to be required is way outside of my comfort zone. Will these plug-ins need a lot of configuration to get them working with Enfold?
Their documentation also seems to suggest that it’s necessary to start using a Content Delivery Network – is that the case?
All of this is really falling into the category of ‘problems I could do without’!Just an addendum to my question above. The PageSpeed Insights report is also flagging ‘Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content’ and also ‘Optimize CSS Delivery ‘. Again, when viewed in detail, these all seem to refer to a large number of files that comprise the Enfold theme.
