Never mind. I got the calendar to work.
Okay. Moving on. Let me create the testing installation and I’ll get back with you. Since everything is working now, I may just keep what I’ve got. If a testing installation will allow you to test the site without it affecting the real site, that’s okay. I just don’t want the site to keep going up and down.
Howdy,
I have taken everything back to the previous version, and everything is working except the calendar. So before we worry about the update, could we just fix the calendar? When I go to http://forgivenministry.org/events/, which is supposed to show the calendar, I get a “Nothing found” message. When I go to http://forgivenministry.org/events/month/, which is also supposed to show the calendar, or http://forgivenministry.org/events/list/, which is supposed to show the events list, I get the same message. Everything else related to the calendar, like the countdown clocks and the events themselves, is working.
I have reinstalled the calendar plugin that came with the previous version of Enfold, but that does not seem to help.
Please help me solve this mystery, and then let’s tackle the update. Thanks!
Since you guys have been either unwilling or unable to help me, I have switched my theme back to the previous version – 3.8.4. I guess I’ll just have to live with that.
What good does it do to have “support” if you cannot get help when you need it. Before this, I was really proud of you guys – the way your theme worked, how easy your updates were and how well you guys offered support. No more. Now I am so disappointed I don’t know what to say.
Thanks for nothing, guys.
I have turned off and turned on all the plugins, yet nothing brings my Dashboard back. Also, on the front end, your new version of the template is not recognizing the Calendar, which is one of the main features of your template. Honestly, at this point, I think the problem is with the template itself. I’ve tried everything else. The only thing left is to reinstall the previous version of the template.
Why is no one answering my questions? At least a courtesy post saying you’re working on the problem would help. At this point, I am very disappointed with your support. Please send me some kind of answer.
Thanks!
One more suggestion: we are using Salesforce on our site. Right now, the form is not appearing on our contact page – just the word “salesforce” in a bracket. Could it be that the Salesforce plugin is causing this problem? And if it is, then why didn’t renaming the plugins folder alleviate it?
Thanks for your help.
I’ll be honest with you, Rikard: the reason I switched to Enfold as the exclusive template to use when building clients’ web sites is because it is so much easier to update than all the others I’ve used in the past. So we HAVE to get this thing figured out. I cannot go back to all the difficulties I put up with using other templates. The odd thing is, this was my most recent site. I just built it in January. Of all my sites, this one should have been the EASIEST to update.
So please, please help. Thanks!
Rikard,
When I updated my template on April 18, I did so through WordPress. Today, I updated using FTP. I did it twice and nothing happened either time.
So, I changed the name of my the plugin folder, as you suggested. Again, nothing happened. The theme is running on the front end – http://forgivenministry.org/ – but the screen is blank on the back end – http://forgivenministry.org/wp-admin.
One thing I noticed is that there is an additional plugin folder in my wp-content folder. It’s called mu-plugins and it contains a file called sso.php. I don’t think that was there yesterday. I checked one of my other sites that uses the Enfold theme and it doesn’t have that folder. Could that be the cause of the problem?
There are several other items in my Forgiven Ministry wp-content folder that don’t exist in this other site’s wp-content folder. One is called 2plugins, but it doesn’t contain anything. Another is called endurance-page-cache.off. It has several items in it. The dates on these folders indicate they originated with the original installation of the site.
Since I cannot access the back end of my site, I cannot do any more with the plugins page other than change the name of the plugins folder as you suggested. But I will say that before this happened, there was a message saying that the sso.php plugin was required. I clicked on it, but there didn’t seem to be a way to activate it. Perhaps because it was in a different folder – the mu-plugins folder? But when I tried moving it to my regular plugins folder, I got a fatal error message; so I moved it back. I did this while I had a different template selected, so I was able to see the back end. Once I switched it out for the Enfold theme again, the dashboard disappeared and I wasn’t able to do anything else.
The only other thing I can think of is if there might be a problem with my enfold-child folder. Is it possible that your update affected that? But then, why would the front end be visible and not the back end, if it had something to do with the enfold-child folder?
So, I’m at the end of everything I know to do. I need your help again.
Thanks!
My hosting company changed the template from Enfold to something else so I could see the back end. I didn’t know they had done that until AFTER I had submitted my request. So if you go to the site, you’re not going to see the Enfold theme. I think it’s one of the generic WordPress themes. Would it be possible to switch out the old Enfold theme for the latest version in the FTP folder, without losing all my settings?
Thanks!

I appreciate you’re doing that. Still, this is an issue, and I doubt that I’m the only one having it. I don’t have multiple computers to use, except older ones. I think you need to make your developers aware that Mac users are working on multiple versions of OS – Snow Leopard, Lion, Maverick – and that your theme needs to work on all of them.
Before this, I was working with the theme Salient, and it had an issue, which its developers claimed no one else had had: its drop down menus wouldn’t scroll. Once they got to the bottom of my screen, they stopped, so that I wasn’t able to see the bottom items. That was the only issue I had with that theme, just as the delete thing is the only issue I’ve had with this one. What that tells me is that the developers haven’t tested EVERYTHING on all systems. I can understand how something can slip through the cracks. However, once you guys have been made aware of something, I think you ought to fix it.
Anyhow, thanks for your help.

I came to it through the “Edit Page” menu item in the black menu bar above the site.

This reply has been marked as private. This reply has been marked as private.Looks like what I’m having to do is close and reopen Safari after I finish with one page before it will allow me to delete items on a second page. I’d call that a bug.
This reply has been marked as private. This reply has been marked as private.I spoke too soon. After editing one page, the next page is not allowing me to delete. And I am using the latest version of Safari. I just think it’s a bug.
Here’s perhaps some light on the subject: I closed Safari and restarted my computer, and now I’m able to delete elements again. Sometimes things just bog down and the only solution is to restart. Sorry for bothering you.
I didn’t figure it out. The problem is, sometimes “Edit Page” allows me to delete an element and sometimes it doesn’t. And there is no apparent reason as to when it does and doesn’t allow it. It is a quirky bug in the program. If you can fix it or shed any light on why it is doing this, I would appreciate it. I’m on a Mac, by the way, using Safari as a browser. Thanks!
Great… After posting my question, I went back to the page I was trying to edit, and, suddenly and for the first time, “x’s” appeared over the elements when I hovered over them. Then I tried to go back and remove my question, but there was no way to do that. I suppose an “x” will appear over IT once I’ve posted this. Spooky. Any explanation for this? In other words, why do the “x’s” sometimes appear when you hover over an element, and sometimes not appear? What is the condition in each case? Thanks.
