Well, yes, the button theoretically can open a new tab with an image.

A button can also do the download but this will require a plugin.

If you’re using the plugin’s CSS and JS compression, you don’t need to use the theme’s compression, there can be issues with that. Did you try using just the plugin without the theme’s compression?
