Thanks for the reply. After posting my question I started thinking of different ways I could achieve the same result and realized that I could just modify the header image to achieve the correct effect.

Thanks for the replies. Zooming the browser window and checking my monitor settings were the first things I tried. It wasn’t a practical solutions as it also affected the rest of the wordpress admin settings which were fine. Ultimately modifing the admin css file worked quite nicely. Now the Enfold panel is much clearer to read.
