    I solved this.

    For anyone trying to do a 2 column (or more) Contact Form 7 using Enfold styles, the solution provided here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/styling-contact-form-7-as-enfold-contact-form/ may cause issues with form submission. I used the solution above and it looked great but the form submit stopped working.

    Here is a solution that doesn’t break the submit button. Use Enfold flex column styles. If you inspect the column classes by viewing source of: http://kriesi.at/themes/enfold/shortcodes/columns/ , you’ll see the classes needed.

    I applied these classes to make a 2-column Contact Form 7 form:

    <!–left–>
    <div class=”flex_column av_one_half flex_column_div first”>Your Name (required)<br />
    [text* Name placeholder “Your Name”]
    </div>
    <!–right–>
    <div class=”flex_column av_one_half flex_column_div”>Your Email (required)<br />
    [email* SenderEmail placeholder “Your Email”]
    </div>

    <!–left–>
    <div class=”flex_column av_one_half flex_column_div first”><label> Area Code + Phone Number (required)<br />
    [text* Phone placeholder “Area Code and Phone Number”] </label>
    </div>
    <!–right–>
    <div class=”flex_column av_one_half flex_column_div”>Skype Name (If you prefer support via Skype)<br />
    [text Skype placeholder “Skype Name”]</div>

    <!–left–>
    <div class=”flex_column av_one_half flex_column_div first”>Preferred date (Monday-Friday)<br />
    [date* Date placeholder “date”]</label></div>
    <!–right–>
    <div class=”flex_column av_one_half flex_column_div”>Preferred time (Please state a time from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. PST)<br />
    [text* Time placeholder “Preferred time”]
    </div>

    [submit “Send”]

    Strange. I’m wondering if it was the PHP version. I noticed after attempted update that and old version of PHP was running. I had them upgrade to 5.4 (still old but much newer than was running). 5.4 is all that is available on that server.

    Anyway, thanks. I’ll try again at some point. I have backups so it’ll be fine.

    Hi Basilis. I’m confused: I *was* updating to the latest version of Enfold from the auto update in Enfold settings. It showed 4.02 as the latest. I updated and it broke the site.

    in reply to: Image caption overlay text duplicated in content #735631

    Strange. I emptied the cache (in the caching plugin) and browser and it is still duplicated. Also a small broken image icon below each of those square images in Chrome. I’d send a screenshot but you don’t have uploads in support ;-)

    Thanks.

    in reply to: Content Slider : add pause on hover #719383

    Answering my own question ;-) Is this the answer I’m looking for hover pause functionality in content slider?
    https://kriesi.at/support/topic/video-is-slideshow-pause-autorotate/

    Thanks.

    Hi Rikard. I mean the content. The shortcode idea would work. I’ll activate debug and grab it. Thanks for that!

    Tom.

    Thanks Vinay.

    “If you notice that others have the same issue the reason for it might not be the same in your case as every site is setup in different ways hence the earlier solution is not working for you.”

    That is always true, though because it is the same *exact* file and same *exact* symptom Google complains about, it’s more than likely the same issue. The fix was set up correctly and I asked Google to crawl , it did, and no joy. The Google error is a nothing more than a minor annoyance, but instead of putting this back to me, maybe the parent files shouldn’t be crawlable in the theme in the first place. Just saying. Thanks for trying, though.

    Hi Andy. Thanks. No I haven’t tested a default theme. I’ve seen two other people on Enfold support with exactly the same problem. Pretty sure it is theme related. The log shows an error calling an undefined function get_header, which makes sense. Though the solution above does not work for me.

    Thanks Rikard and Yigit. Update fixed it nicely. Please do close the topic.

    Thanks Rikard. I’ll see if that works. Thanks.

    Hi Rikard. Apologies for the lateness of this reply. Was away for a few days. Created a user for you in private section.

    You’ll see the issue if you edit the homepage and open up a text block editor. As soon as it is open and view the Visual or Text editor, this is what happens to lists. Thanks.

    Hi Yigit.

    Thanks for the link, but the support response here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/how-to-avoid-rendering-extra-line-breaks/ describes the fix for text blocks not for the content slider, which also doubles up on p and ul tags each time it’s opened. How do I fix that issue in text blocks and content slider?

    Is there any chance that the Enfold team will fix this issue in the theme? Although I can implement, seems like a permanent fix would help many people.

    in reply to: Search in top menu breaks to second line in Safari. #401086

    Yigit…I did not know that ;-) I just read Safari comparability info on their download page. So, I see now that Windows 7 was the last Windows OS Safari was made for. Weird, but fine with me. Thanks!

    Thanks!

    The function above didn’t work. As I said, I tried it before but thought it might be different.
    I’ll stay with the calling the stylesheet from head but if you guys figure out a fix for this, please let me know. Thanks!

    You also have extra (‘) marks at the end of two lines:

    $fonts[‘Open Sans 2’] = ‘Open Sans:300italic,400italic,600italic,700italic,800italic,700,300,600,800,400”;

    and

    $fonts[‘Open Sans 2’] = ‘Open Sans:300italic,400italic,600italic,700italic,800italic,700,300,600,800,400”;

    Thanks Ismael. I’ll try this.

    I did try another version of function that was offered as a solution to another user but it did not work. Maybe this one will.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Elliot. Thanks. You missed or didn’t read my last post ;-) I fixed this but please do read this. I see others are having similar problems.

    I cleared cache, disabled plugins. Tried resetting fonts in settings. I have no cache plugin.

    My “manual” fix below resolved the problem:

    I added: <link rel=’stylesheet’ id=’open-sans-css’ href=’//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans%3A300italic%2C400italic%2C600italic%2C300%2C400%2C600&subset=latin%2Clatin-ext&ver=4.0.1′ type=’text/css’ media=’all’ /> to the child theme’s header.php

    FYI:
    Enfold was not loading open sans 300 in <head> when logged out. I could clearly see that it was not in source, so adding to my custom header worked, but this should not be necessary. This symptom began after I updated two days ago. Before that it was fine.

    This should be fixed in Enfold.

    Here is a user with similar problem:
    https://kriesi.at/support/topic/special-heading-thin-font-type-changes-to-helvetica-when-i-log-out-of-wp-admin/

    The fixes suggested in the thread (like adding a custom function) did nothing for me.

    Thanks anyway!

    Tried everything in Enfold to fix the fact that Opens Sans 300 loads when logged in but not when logged out.

    Had to add the following manually to my child theme header before the closing </head> tag.

    <link rel=’stylesheet’ id=’open-sans-css’ href=’//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans%3A300italic%2C400italic%2C600italic%2C300%2C400%2C600&subset=latin%2Clatin-ext&ver=4.0.1′ type=’text/css’ media=’all’ />

    Adding this fixed it of course, but wish it could have been done within Enfold.

    I resolved this with a little digging.

    Though I disabled all plugins to see if there was a conflict, nothing happened when I did. On a hunch, I checked settings in iThemes Security and found it was not allowing Enfold settings to take effect.

    The plugin was not a problem before the update but now is. If anyone else has the issue, here’s the workaround.

    Go to iThemes Security > System Tweaks, uncheck “Disable PHP in Uploads”. This was the culprit.

    Also not that in Enfold prior to v3.x, width you entered in settings was displayed. Now you have to width + padding left (50px) + padding right (50px). So, if you want your boxes to be 1030px wide total, enter 1130px in Enfold > General Layout > Dimensions > Maximum Container Width.

    Little more info Ismael.
    I don’t have cache or minify plugins.
    I’ve disabled all plugins and the theme width is still not applied.
    I’ve flushed cache, tried different browser and a laptop which does not have site cached.

    I tried 755 and 777 on enfold stylesheet in uploads/dynamic_avia/enfold.css

    No joy. Width set in settings still don’t work for me.

    Elliot. I’ve updated succesfully but the box widths seem to have changed. In settings I have 1030px set, but they are all 910px.

    Why isn’t Enfold obeying the setting? How can I fix this?

    Thanks.

    Elliot…I tried updating through WordPress.

    I see:

    “No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (2.9.2)”

    So I have to update manually?

    Thanks Josue. I’ll give it a look.

    in reply to: Can a layer be persistent across slides? #326938

    Devin, I”ve updated this to show others how I managed to make one div persist on top of all slides in the Advanced Slider. In my case, I wanted a sign up form that would be visible within each slide, without having to duplicate the form for every slide.

    Here’s what the finished product looks like:
    form div persisting on top of all slides

    Here’s what I did.

    1. Open Pages > Your Homepage.
    Below the advanced slider add a code block (see screenshot). In the code block, insert whatever html content you want to persist. In my case, it is a sign-up form that is visible (on top of) every layer.
    null

    <div class=”homeSignUp”>
    <h2>Some form heading</h2>
    <form action=”” method=”post”>
    /* move classes to css file. I’m being lazy */
    <input style=”display: block; float: left;” type=”text” name=”name” placeholder=”Name” />
    <input style=”display: block; float: left;” type=”text” name=”email” placeholder=”Email” />
    <input style=”display: block; float: left” type =”submit” name=”signup” value=”Notify me!” />
    </form>
    </div>

    Make sure you give the div a class or id (“homeSignUp” is what I called it).

    2. Now add some styles to position the element.
    Open Appearance > Edit and add the div styles to styles.css

    /* Change the stacking order of the container div that wraps the code block so it has a higher z-index than the slider. This ensures that the persistent div is on top of the slides. Also have to explicitly set the container’s position to “relative” so we can position our persistent div within it. */

    .home .container {
    /* content box must be have higher z-index than slider so
    we can position sign up form on top of it */
    position: relative !important;
    z-index: 300 !important;
    }

    /* position the persistent div. This positions my “homeSignUp” div inside the container div */
    .homeSignUp {
    position: absolute;
    left: 0px;
    margin-top: -190px; /* a negative top margin pulls the code block layer up to the slider. Could have used “top” or “bottom” but this seemed to work better */
    /* auto widths for this form will allow it to scale to mobile */
    width: auto !important;
    height: auto !important;
    padding: 12px;
    background: #fff;
    border-radius: 6px;
    background: #fcfcfc;
    }
    /* this is just signup for styling */
    .homeSignUp form input[type=text] {
    width: 160px !important;
    margin: 0 10px 0 0 !important;
    padding: 3px !important;
    /* height: 26px !important; */
    font-size: 120% !important;
    }

    .homeSignUp form input[type=submit] {
    padding: 6px 14px 6px 14px !important;
    }

    This will get it working on desktop.

    3. Add mobile styles with CSS media queries to reposition the element on mobile devices.

    You don’t have to do this, but you may want to either remove the div or reposition it on some devices. I had no choice but to move the form out of the slider and back into the regular flow of the design.

    Here’s what I have for portrait smartphones in my stylesheet. I’ll have to add media queries for landscape and tablets now but this is the idea anyway.

    /* MEDIA QUERIES FOR MOBILE */
    /* Smartphones (portrait) ———– */
    @media only screen and (max-width:320px) {
    .homeSignUp {
    position: relative !important;
    margin-top: 0px !important;
    margin-bottom: 20px !important;
    width: auto !important;
    height: auto !important;
    padding: 12px;
    background: #fff;
    border-radius: 6px;
    background: #fcfcfc;
    border: 1px solid #efefef;
    text-align: center !important;
    }
    .homeSignUp form input[type=text] {
    float: none !important;
    width: 100% !important;
    margin-bottom: 10px !important;
    }
    .homeSignUp form input[type=submit] {
    float: none !important;
    margin: 0 auto !important;
    }

    }

    This seems like a lot of work, but really not, and, you cannot break anything, particularly if you are using a child theme. You could use the same method to position 1 image that persists across slides, one button, one whatevermajig.
