Thanks Yigit, that helps a lot!

To be safe, please create a staging copy of your site and update the theme there
Now, how do I do that??

I only see two files in the child theme folder: functions.php, styles.css
So nothing to worry here, I guess?!

in reply to: Cookie handling options missing (SOLVED) #1371354

Hi Ismael, something really weird is going on… Everything worked flawlessly, but now I wanted to make a change to the text of the cookie banner, but in “Cookie Handling” the box for the text isn’t there anymore. The same is the case for the option to activate the cookie consent message. Needless to say, the cookie banner itself doesn’t work anymore, either. What’s going on here? Especially since I didn’t make any more changes. The only thing which comes to mind. Yesterday I got an email that my caching plug-in (WP Super Cache) was updated. Could that cause such a problem? (Although I have deactivated it and it didn’t fix the problem.)

SOLVED: The browser add on “I don’t care about cookies” was the culprit. Sorry for bothering…

Thanks Ismael, the refresh setting works. I have to look into the other options, yet. Keep you posted…
EDIT: Regarding your first answer… That wasn’t actually what I meant, but indirectly you answered my question, nonetheless.

Thanks again for your help. You can close the topic.

in reply to: Round corners for social icons #1370700

Hi Mike, that’s it… almost. When I click on an icon the coloured square stays on, but the corners aren’t rounded. Only when I hover over them (which makes sense regarding the code). I know this is rather nit-picking, but even out of pure curiosity I’d like to understand, why the other code I used only affected the bottom left corner of the first icon.

in reply to: Setting default volume of audio player to 100% #1370580

Hi Mike, I solve the problem. Basically, you already gave the answer: “or you can edit the un-minified one and then minify it online” That was the key. Though, what’s really odd, now I can even undo the change by uploading the original file. That part still makes no sense.

Nonetheless, this hack is one big BS solution, because it is undone every time WP is updated. Would it be possible, that Kriesi contacts the WP support to tell them to 1. make 100% volume the default (as explained, anything else makes technically no sense) and 2. to add an option where the default volume can be permanently changed? I think you contacting them has way more impact, than I’m doing it.

in reply to: Setting default volume of audio player to 100% #1370455

Hi Mike, I was looking into audio player plug-ins, but none was satisfactory (they’re either to big, or can’t be customized).
My web package doesn’t have a cPanel. So, what can I do to ensure that my FTP client doesn’t mess with the file permission?

Btw. what’s the best way to contact WordPress support? I’d like to urge them to change the volume to 100% permanently, because technically it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to set it lower. (When you reduce volume at the software level, you have to compensate by raisig it on the hardware level (phone, pc speakers…) which means that you raise the noise floor.)

EDIT: So, according to my FTP client the file permission is the same. So, the question is, why isn’t the file recognized any more, when I upload it manualy?

in reply to: Setting default volume of audio player to 100% #1370192

Hi Mike, this is what i did:

I downloaded the file mediaelement-and-player.min.js from this folder wp-includes/js/mediaelement. I edited it with Notepad++ changing the value of the parameter startVolume from .8 to 1 (I also tried 1.0), saved the file and reuploaded it to wp-includes/js/mediaelement. After that all audio players on my website were gone.

Reuploading the unchanged file didn’t reverse that and I had to reinstall WordPress.

in reply to: Setting default volume of audio player to 100% #1369799

Editing the startVolume parameter in mediaelement-and-player.min.js didn’t work, at all. It made the audio play disappear completely. Even replacing it with the unchanged backup didn’t correct that. I had to reinstall WordPress to make the audio player reappear. Any ideas?

Fixed the problem by using a minimum section height in px instead of %. So, it was all about the size of the display.

Hi Ismael, I think that works. Thank you very much.

Btw. I really have to give you and the others compliment for your top notch support and patience with noobs like me. :) It’s very much appreciated!

Caching plug-in is deactivated, as well as file compression. ;) I put the link to the page of the screenshot below.

in reply to: Problem with header when using phone in horizontal format. #1367382

Thanks for the explanation. So, why does it look fine on your phone and off on mine? The Firefox version is 105.1.0. btw.

in reply to: Extending background image when using a page as footer #1367379

Thanks, Ismael. This doens’t seem to do anything, though. (cleared cache, file compression is diactivated)

in reply to: Sticky Header for mobile doesn't work on all pages. #1367307

Hi Mike, the issue with the jumping header is with the mobile version, but when the fixed header is enabled for desktop, only. Since I have it also enabled for mobile, there’s nothing to see at the moment.

My logo uses all the space there is on my phone. So no issue here.

However, I’d really like to know, if Enfold’s file compression is recommended by default.

in reply to: Sticky Header for mobile doesn't work on all pages. #1366891

Hi Ismael, thanks for your answer.

You may need to toggle or temporarily disable the Enfold > Performance > File Compression settings while editing the site and make sure to purge the cache before testing the page.

That option was already disabled. Do you recommend to enable it by default?

Fixed header is disabled by default because it is not necessary on mobile devices and it takes a lot of space. Users can easily navigate the page even without a sticky navigation or header.

Fair enough. However, there’s still the display issue, where the header background jumps, when the fixed header is enabled only for the desktop version.

in reply to: Problem with header when using phone in horizontal format. #1366888

Hi Ismael, my phone is a Huawei P9. The screen resolution is 1080 x 1920.

A general question: Are only the browser apps responsible for the interpretation of a website’s code, or is this also affected by the OS version? (My browser apps are up to date, but my android version is pretty dated.)

in reply to: Column Animation doesn't work properly on phone #1366885

That does the trick. Thank you, Ismael! Does this code universally apply to the other effects (e.g. pop up), or is it specifically for the fade-in effect?

in reply to: Preview for social media / messenger apps #1365607

You’re welcome! You can close the topic. Thanks

    Unfortunately, that doesn’t do anything.

EDIT: Okay, made it work. I have to give the ID to the text block itself and not to the column block. (Weird that it only works that way, though.)

The problem is solved then. Thanks a lot, Rikard!!

in reply to: Preview for social media / messenger apps #1365591

Thanks Rikard! I just found the solution, why Yoast SEO didn’t do anything (that was the case for Telegram). In some cases you have to use the Webpage Bot (https://t.me/WebpageBot) to force update of the preview of your website.

    Regards, Thomas

Ahh, here we go… :) Thanks Rikard! Ok, I gave the first column the ID “clmspc”. Now, how do I target that?

in reply to: Preview for social media / messenger apps #1365575

So, there isn’t some standard meta data that is used by all this platforms? Any chance that this feature is added in a future version of Enfold? I really don’t like using too many plug-ins.

Maybe I’m too stupid, but the columns don’t have the option “Developer Settings”. See the screenshot, that’s all there is.

    Sorry for the late reply…
So, I should give the “module” marked red (see screenshot) an ID, right? The problem is, that module doesn’t have that option. Only the module above (marked green) does have it.

Well, the right area (green marking) is affected as intended, but unfortunately so are the others (red markings) which shouldn’t be the case. (screenshot below)

Can this code be further specified?

I’d like to reduce the spacing with the green marking (see screenshot).

I achieved that to a certain degree, by putting the #top .social_bookmarks {margin-top: 40px} code in a media query, so it’s only applied to the desktop version. I’d like to reduce that spacing even more, though.

EDIT: Solved it. Just used the same code mentioned above, but with a negative value and in a media query, so it’s only applied to the mobile version.

That being solved, there’s still the same issue for the main content. Here’s my original describtion again with the screenshots below:

Look at the screenshot with the two columns (desktop version). There are two content blocks next to each other. The one on the left is titled “Zeitgeist Movement Campaign Video”, the one on the right has the title “Hellegance 2009 Intro”.

Now take a look at the screenshot with one column (mobile version). These two content blocks are now stacked on top of each other, as is expected. However, now I got a new space (green marking in the screenshot) between those two content blocks, that doesn’t exist in the two columns (desktop) version. That’s the one I want to customize.

I put the problematic code in a media query, but to be 100% sure I removed it now completely and it still doesn’t work. See for yourself below…

How/Where do I add a class to the container of the social icons?
