  • I do not understand. We have a situation here where the description does not display if the onhand is zero. Why would that require customization to fix? I would call this broken…not a “feature”.

in reply to: How can I locate products flagged as hidden #1013459

Thanks. I used the Woocommerce Bulk Edit tool to find them. I created a filter for status and then checked the ones flagged as Pending and Private since I knew I could have set either of those to Hidden. I saw no way to look at that field specifically.

I will try to work on re-installing Enfold this weekend. I have been working on getting my products recategorized and displaying properly.

in reply to: How can I alphabetize my entire list of sub-categories? #1013180

    Peter,
I tried your recommendation of installing the plugin Taxonomy Terms Order. It was easy to work with, but it only affected the display to the end user. While that is important, I need for the categories and sub-categories to be listed alphabetically on the backend as well. It is harder to manage when you have a lot of sub-categories and they are not in order. I am able to drag and rearrange within a single, but the category that has the worst problem spans at least 4 pages. Is there anything I can do within Enfold to fix that? Thanks.

Did you do anything? My menu is not formatted properly on my DESKTOP now, and that one was working ok earlier. The menu was formerly under my logo, and now it is on the same line and to the right of the logo. It used to show to the right of the logo on the responsive menu as an icon.

As for how I did the theme update, I just selected update the usual way. That weekend I updated Word Press, then Enfold and then WooCommerce, doing some tests after each one. My tests were from the desktop though, and I didn’t realize until a few days later that the menu icon was not showing on the responsive menu.

I had this same problem when I updated a few days ago. I had the extra blank space at the top of the screen and my responsive menu is now gone. I didn’t realize the problem with the menu on the smartphone & tablet until today. I was able to get past the problem with the blank space, though to be honest I do not recall how that was done. I am not as experienced as Watermark.

My Topmost menu at the top of the screen is working ok. My Primary Nav menu is my Enfold Main Menu and it would normally appear as a menu icon beside my logo in the responsive menu, but it is missing. I removed two menu options from the top level with the thought that maybe it was now too wide after the update (though it should not have been affected). Shortening the menu had no affect. What do I need to do to regain this menu access on the responsive screen?

in reply to: How to change Related Item Count on Blog Layout #738264

You are talking about related posts, and I need to control the display of related items, as in products (not posts). When I display a particular product item and scroll toward the bottom of the page, there is a section for “Related Products”. With some additional testing that I did just now, it appears that at least 2 factors affect which products display in the Related Products section of a displayed product:

    1) Product Category, and/or
    2) Linked Products (In my case I use Cross Sells within Linked Products.)

    Scenario 1:
Product Categories (“Fashion” or “Etchings”) had only 2 items in each. When I displayed a product from either of them, only the second product for the category was displayed in the Related Products section. I did not have any Linked Products setup here.

    Scenario 2:
There are 8 “Poetry” products configured. Product Category “Poetry” is assigned to 4 of those products. I displayed the only item that is also setup with the other 7 products as cross sells. The link to that item is included here in Private Content.

The Related Products section of the displayed item included the other 3 products in that category PLUS an additional Poetry product that was setup as a cross sell. For the sake of the test, that cross sell product was not included in the Poetry category.

This second scenario leads me to believe that it gives the common (shared) product category priority in what is listed as a Related Product. When it fills all of the display positions (4, as indicated in my initial report) and still has positions available, then it fills remaining positions with Linked Products.

    Scenario 3:
Again, see the link that I sent with this reply. One of the related items is a roll of pre-cut fabric. Each designer collection of fabric has yardage and different kinds of pre-cuts (such as jelly rolls and charms). Some customers are only interested in yardage, and likewise the pre-cuts. Others want a combination of the two. I have a product category just for the various pre-cuts from all the designers, and I have each pre-cut double-listed with the category for particular designer collection, like Poetry. If I select the pre-cut from where it is listed as a Related Product, when it displays that item, then its own related item lists all of the Other pre-cuts from the various other designer collections. I want ALL of the Poetry products to show only the related Poetry fabrics and ignore the pre-cuts of other collections. I have to do it this way (double list) because customers are not going to want to hunt through collections to see if a pre-cut is included. I have a main menu option for pre-cuts if they want to see a full listing of them.

My overall concern is to understand how Related Products are chosen to appear in that section, AND how I can control WHICH appear…AND how do I get more to display at a time because 4 is not nearly enough.

This is not an easy issue to describe. My main problem is that I need to control the display of which products display as related…and understand how to control the count of those included.

I have already provided site login info. Why is FTP access needed as well…to check what exactly? I would rather you let me know what you want to look at via FTP and let me send you screen image of same. Thanks.

in reply to: How to allow image to be enlarged on product screen #734377

I had not been using the Product Gallery. I only selected a product image. I will start using that, but it still isn’t the total answer. Its affect is inconsistent. I tested with an iPhone 5, 6s and a 6sPlus. The latter is the larger of the three and similar in size to a Samsung.

Using the Product Gallery, the item I tested allowed you to expand the image significantly on the 6s screen…even to the point that letters were almost 2 inches high on the image that showed requirements, and the other image (which is actually smaller anyway) was able to be expanded so that the letters were about 1 inch high. It could not expand AT ALL on the iPhone 5.

However, on the larger 6sPlus, I was not able to expand the “front” image of the pattern, and the back side with requirements was only barely able to expand at all.

The Enfold theme claims to be responsive, but in the public of typical phones, the ability to expand these images were only on the highest model phones. What else can be done to have more consistent expandability across the majority of phones in the user base? I have provided you with the example item in the private content area.

Ishmael…I updated the related-posts.php instances of ‘columns’ => to be 10 and 8 where they had been 8 and 6. I saw no impact with the change. It still only shows 4 items in the related items listing. In addition, I don’t think it is really using tags to determine what to list there, not in my case at least. I updated 2 items to have “kathy” as a tag, and neither one of them shows the other in related items at all. Related items seems to be limited to what is included in the same category as the posted item.

I need to get a grip on how all that works so that I can have full control on what to show in the related items. I thought I might have full control if I just used the cross-sale list, but that isn’t the case either. Help!

in reply to: Search widget problems #724777

I looked at your image, and you are seeing the same thing that I am…BUT…depending on how the user goes about their entry, they can end up with a text list output instead of images meeting their criteria.

My recollection is that the very FIRST time that I put the Woocommerce Search widget in the footer, nothing showed there except the one box for the product search. I may be mistaken, but that is my recollection. You entered your search criteria in that box and pressed Enter for the search to begin. And then the output was the IMAGES that met the criteria.

If instead, the only search widget you used was the Enfold Search widget, the output was a LIST in text form (no images).

I’ve done some additional testing. I did clear the inactive widgets, and it made no difference. The way it is working right now is a combination of the two methods, depending on which button/box you use and the way you go about it.

If you enter the search criteria where it says product search and then press enter, you get the matching images. If you enter the text in the upper box and then you click on the Search button below, then you get the images as well. BUT…BUT…if you do not enter any text at all and you click the bottom Search button (by accident or whatever), it takes you to a page with another text box for you to enter the search criteria, and then the output is in the text list style…NOT images.

The text list method is a little amateur looking, on this type of site at least. When you have one search method working one way and then the user goes about it this other way, then it looks like something is not working correctly.

Can we do something so that no matter what, if I am using the Woocommerce Search widget that the user will ALWAYS get a list of images in their results? See the attached link that compares the two results.

in reply to: Search widget problems #724158

Sorry. That is what I get for doing it late at night. I updated private info. As a reminder, I initially tried the Enfold Search and did not care for the output and I removed it. Then I used the Woocommerce Search a few days later instead of that one, and it was working fine. I preferred its output. But I forgot what the difference was between them, so I added the Enfold Search right below it and tried one and then the other to compare results. Then I removed the one for Enfold. However…its text box remained on the screen. I cleared browser cache and that made no difference. The behavior is the same on my iPhone and iPad too, and I cleared cache there too. One thing I did NOT try that I just thought about is clearing the widgets that I no longer use. That shouldn’t make a difference, but I am not going to try it until you have a chance to look at it.

Is anyone available to check this for me today?

in reply to: Search widget problems #723495

I edited functions-Enfold.php for another issue. I added text at the bottom of the file and then removed it later. I was certain that I removed it correctily, but in any event I ended up with that parsing error. When I tried to fix it last night I didn’t have my phone with me for the 2-step verification, but I have fixed the parsing error now. You are free to investigate the Search issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
