Thanks Ismael, but I can’t see where the ‘read more’ code is on that thread?
Also, I’ve managed to add the categories… but how do I add ‘Posted in’ before the category names please?
Thanks,Sam

Thanks. What about adding the category though?
Also, is there any way to add some vertical spacing between the news posts? They look a little crushed (see private content for URL / login). Ideally I’d like to add 10-20px padding directly underneath the excerpt?
Finally, is there a way I can add a ‘Read More’ link directly beneath the excerpt (before the padding) to link to the full article?Thanks for your help,
Sam- This reply was modified 7 years, 3 months ago by sjwmobile.
Can someone please get back to me on the above ASAP?

Thanks Rikard – silly mistake by myself here, apologies. I’d disabled updates.
Have updated to 4.7 and portfolio items are now showing.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Andy,
There is for me? On http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio-item/tanderlane/ the images load with a slight ‘haze’ effect and when you rollover they show the actual colours of the image.
For clarity, the two issues I still have are:
– The hazing effect mentioned above.
– The height of images tagged with ‘portrait’ are still falling short of aligning with others on both the main portfolio page and individual portfolio item pages.Can you assist please?
Thanks,
Sam
Thanks Ismael.
Re: the main portfolio page. Yes tried to clear cache and different browsers too, just in case. Also tried adjusting the value (presently set at 85%) but it didn’t seem to affect the portfolio items tagged with ‘portrait’ unfortunately. The login details are in private content.
I’d really appreciate your help with this one as it’s the only thing left for me to finalise before I can complete the website.
Re: the individual portfolio pages, I removed that CSS and it’s working again now – it’s no longer required. However, can you advise how you remove the rollover effect on individual portfolio pages too please? I would prefer that the image loads at full opacity to start with and there are no rollover effects.
Thanks again for your help.
Sam
Hi Ismael,
Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately that didn’t work but if it is possible to style the portrait option of masonry images only then that should certainly work.
Any idea what the correct custom CSS for that should be please?
Also, can you assist with the 3rd question in my message above (the styling of individual portfolio items) thanks.
Cheers,
Sam
Thanks Andy.
1. Have updated to 4.6.1. Tried changing to flexible masonry. However, this means random gaps and heights. I really want it to be a neatly aligned grid of images with equal sizing so I’ll need to use the ‘Perfect Manual Masonry’ and ‘landscape/portrait’ approach.
I was having a play about and the image size doesn’t seem to affect the gap at the base of the portrait images. If you take another look at the portfolio page, the top left portrait image is 501 x 900 pixels (w x h) and the bottom right portrait image is 501 x 890. Both have the gap beneath.
I also adjusted the height of the standard (not portrait, not landscape) images aligned next to the portrait images (just in case they were too deep) but that didn’t help either.
I’m sure it must be possible to sort the alignment of these out (it’s only a matter of 10 pixels) but can’t determine how to do it… please help! Surely someone must have turned off captions and tried to achieve a similar layout like this before? (I’ve searched the forum but can’t find any examples).
For reference, the custom CSS I’m using is below… all provided by yourselves.
.avia_desktop.avia_transform3d .av-masonry-entry.av-masonry-item-loaded .av-inner-masonry {
-webkit-animation: none;
-moz-animation: none;
animation: none;
}
#header_main {
border-bottom: 0 none;
}h1 {font-weight: 200;}
h2 {font-weight: 200;}
h3 {font-weight: 200;}
h2.avia-caption-title {color: #FFFFFF;}#top .av-masonry-image-container {
-webkit-transform: scale(1);
transform: scale(1);
}.av-masonry-image-container {
background-size: 100% 80%;
background-position: 0px 0px;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
}.single-portfolio .av-masonry-image-container {
background-size: 95% 95%;
}.av-large-gap.av-masonry {
padding: 10px 0px 0px 10px;
}figure.av-inner-masonry.main_color {
height: 120%;
}2. Thanks for providing these.
3 (new question)… The styling of individual portfolio entries is also messed up. I was hoping to have a similar look to the main portfolio page above, but, for example, on http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio-item/synton/
– Images have no spacing beneath them, crushed up against each other.
– Spacing between the 3 columns is too large (aiming for 10px or so to reflect main portfolio page)
– A landscape image (at the bottom right) doesn’t span exactly 2 columns – it’s quite a few pixels less.Concerned that the custom CSS I’m using may be conflicting and causing display issues. Can you assist please?
Thanks again,
Sam

Thanks Andy.
1) I’ll private you admin login details and appreciate you helping with this.
2) Can you share what the default values are? I’m struggling to work these out.
Cheers,
Sam
Hi Andy,
1) Yes, that’s what I’m talking about. I edited the portfolio items to use an image that is more of a portrait image… but it’s still got the gap at the base of it. I absolutely need to use portrait images within the portfolio and want it to look like the example http://kriesi.at/themes/enfold-photography/portfolio/ (minus the animations and captions)… Please advise why the gap might still be there? Do I need to use images of a different dimension?
2.) Wouldn’t really call this a general WP question. I just need to know what image dimensions I should use for the Masonry gallery (both landscape and portrait) so as to make them align perfectly? Surely that must be something that you guys spec’ed out? (I can’t find them anywhere though)
Thanks,
Sam
Thanks Andy.
1. That appears to have helped, but there’s still a gap beneath the portrait image – it doesn’t quite align with the imagery to the right of it. Any way to isolate portrait images and remove that gap?
2. Thanks, installed the plugin. It asks for specific maximum sizes. Do these need to be specified (if yes, can you advise what the dimensions should be please) or is it simply a case of specifying Cropping – No to all the different image options?
Appreciate your help and look forward to using Enfold on future projects too.
Sam
Perfect, thanks Andy.
Thanks Ismael.
Is there a way to apply the background-size: 100% 100% to all individual portfolio posts please?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks Andy.
Does that work for post ID’s too (portfolio items are classed as posts?)
I tried following to edit http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio-item/inverleith-place/ (post ID 593) but doesn’t seem to work;
.post-id-593 .av-masonry-image-container {
background-size: 100% 100%;
}Thanks
Thanks Andy, but that unfixes the issue with the Synton image (whereby the bottom of the image is cropped off) on the main portfolio page http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio/
Sam
Really surprised there’s not a simple solution to this. I can’t be the only person that has requested that images aren’t cropped/resized within the masonry view?
The variety of fixes proposed have now left the profile section looking worse than before. Imagery is stretched on http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio-item/inverleith-place/ for example.
Is this something that can be addressed with future Theme updates?
Thanks Andy.
As I mentioned though, just removing the background image from repeating means that there’s a big white gap beneath the portrait imagery – see http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio/
Adjusting the background-size property to be larger fixes the whitespace issue, but means that the Synton image is cropped (the problem I was trying to fix in the first place).
Is there any way to reduce the spacing between the caption and the image for the portrait images? Or just to tidy it all up a little as currently it doesn’t look great.
Thanks,
Sam
Thanks Andy… getting closer.
On http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio/, the Synton image now shows completely (with the height set to 78%) but because the image is repeating, it repeats on the portrait style images.
What’s the best way around this? Reduce the height of the portrait imagery? Welcome your advice and custom CSS here so as to resolve finally. I don’t think just stopping the image background repeating will look good as there would be significant whitespace between the image and the caption beneath.
Thanks,
Sam
Getting somewhere. The image for ‘Inverleith Place’ now appears in full (although it looks a bit distorted) – do I need to cut that to specific dimensions? It’s currently 705 x 705 (http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Inverleith-Place-1-705×7051.jpg)
Also, the image for Synton at the top of the portfolio page is still missing the bottom (it’s like the caption is overlapping the image) – can the caption be pushed beneath the image?
Thanks,
Sam
It appears to be mostly cropping off the bottom – nothing to do with the captioning styling?
Cheers,
Sam
Hi Elliot,
Still cropping the images I’m afraid – updated to the latest version of WP today as well, just in case that might be affecting it.
Been fiddling with the CSS styling in inspect element mode, but no luck. Is there no custom CSS that could stop the zooming/cropping?
Thanks,
Sam
Hi Andy,
Yeah, cleared browser cache and also tried a couple of browsers that had never visited the site before to be safe – all still show the images cropped/’zoomed’. I’ve edited the functions.php file to make the masonry image crop false too. Still shows images as cropped/zoomed.
Any other ideas? I’ve looked through the forums to see if anyone else has requested that the images aren’t cropped as surely I can’t be the first? For photography/architecture type sites this is a big deal as they’re (understandably) keen to represent their imagery in the best way possible.
Really appreciate your help,
Best,
Sam
Hi Andy,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I tried downloading Simple Image Sizes and setting the maximum height and width of the ‘masonry’ images to be 705 each. I also used the plugin to tell it not to crop the image and then regenerated all imagery. However, this hasn’t worked – the imagery is still cropped.
Surely I can just edit the image sizing within the theme, rather than having to use external plugins?
Thanks,
Sam
Thanks Ismael. I just want to be able to see the entire image on the main portfolio page – http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio/ without any cropping or containers obscuring the view please.
Created admin level access, details in private message.
Really appreciate your help with this.
Sam
Hi Ismael,
I resized the graphics as suggested but they’re still being cropped on the main portfolio page – http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/portfolio/. You’ll see that the dimensions of the featured image (and the lead masonry gallery image) for Synton is now 705×286 as requested (for reference, full size version at http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Synton-5-705×2861.jpg)
Also tried resizing the lead featured image and lead masonry image for the Inverleith Place portfolio item (made the image 705×705) but it’s still being cropped too.
Can you not just tell me what the dimensions of featured images should be to ensure they’re not cropped? I’d need 3 dimensions I guess – portrait, landscape and normal?
Thanks,
Sam
Hi Elliott,
Thanks for getting back to me. I updated the functions.php file and regenerated all the thumbnails but doesn’t seem to have worked?
For reference, the dimension of the image at the top of the main portfolio page (Synton-5.jpg) is 888×360 and the full size image can be viewed at http://www.rorygibsonarchitects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Synton-5.jpg
I would like it so that the image isn’t cropped on the main portfolio page at all.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Sam
Nevermind, sorted.
Resolved the last 2… but could you perhaps assist with the first point (changing the H2 colour for captions please?
Fantastic – thanks Yigit.
Do you know if it’s possible to align the menu item to the right (so that it sits alongside the search tool) as well?
Can I just add align: right; or something similar to the CSS?
Thanks!
