Looks like it was the cache. Centre alignment seems to be working with:
```
.avia-button-wrap.avia-button-center {
    margin: 0 auto;
    display: block;
}
```

OK disregard … as per https://kreatura.ticksy.com/ticket/1069171/ it must have been problem with importing slides from an older version. I had been trying to fix the previous slider, and the default slider which came with the original theme.
After recreating slider from scratch it is now working correctly.
