Please toggle or temporarily disable the Enfold > Performance > File Compression settings after adding the css. – what file compression setting do?
It worked like magic. Thanks for your support as I was trying different css properties but nothing was working

I am not sure what changed, even though I did not make any changes but all the icons on my site started working.
Can you let me know what was done so in future I can follow the same steps if problem occurs again.

I updated the latest version 4.7.3 on my test site where I installed the same enfold theme and replicated the problem. I also updated the php version but problem is still there.
