I never ‘replace’ my theme folder, I always first rename the old one enfoldOLD (in case something goes wrong) then upload the new one. I’ve successfully updated the theme this way many times. BUT… I had recently changed computers and am running a newer version of filezilla. I decided to re-create the whole situation and re-uploaded the theme folder with the new PC and inspected the uploaded files and it turned out that filezilla had uploaded the files with a different set of permissions on files compared to my old installation of filezilla, so I believe this was the cause. I used the old client to re-upload the new 3.8 enfold folder and everything went file.
Now I need to figure out which setting in filezilla is causing this (any ideas would be appreciated).
Thanks for your help and for a great product!

If it were possible to give you a step-by-step instruction on how to reproduce the error, it wouldn’t be unpredictable. I could live with the problems if I could reliably predict the errors, and have a sure-fire way to fix them. That is the nature of my problem.
That being said, avia remains unusable for me. I think I’ll try to create the problem with the footer on a page, then send it to you along with logins.
Thanks for the reply,
