I don’t own the LayerSlider plugin and got it through Enfold, so I can’t update it myself.
I think it’s weird that you’re bundling a plugin, but not maintaining it (or do I not get you right?).
What if a real vulnerability is found in the plugin?According to wpvulndb.com LayerSlider had some vulnerabilities in the past, although it’s only sporadically.

Shouldn’t I be able to update Layerslider to a newer version through your theme, in which this problem has been solved?
Well, I thought I had posted a question about how to make it so my client doesn’t have to check a category.
This part of my reply seems to be vanished, or I must’ve dreamed that I wrote it.But since then I’ve already managed to do this with a bit of PHP.

When I add a term I’m seeing the custom post type appearing in the options.
This is progress, thanks!Currently I’m working local so I can’t give you access yet.
Maybe you can look at the settings of the Custom Post Type and Custom Taxonomy in these screenshots?

I’ve given Custom Post Types UI a try, but I’m getting the same result.
With ‘Display entries from a custom taxonomy’ selected in the Blog Posts-element, should I be able to select the Custom Taxonomy with the dropdown ‘Which Entries?’..?
I only see the options Category and Post Format in that dropdown.Maybe you can give me some pointers of settings for the Custom Taxonomy and the Custom Post Type?

I’ve tried this approach with WP_Types, but so far I’m not seeing the Custom Taxonomy in the options. Here are some screenshots of my current settings:
