Hi again Rikard,
So I uploaded a backup of the site, so it’s live again. What I’m looking at is a site where the AVIA page builder does not load any longer. What specific steps can I take now to update the theme? You mentioned before updating the theme on a staged version of the site. I can’t imagine I would get a different result than the fatal error I got last time on the live site. Is there a way to update the theme in stages, instead of straight from 2.4.5 to the latest version?
Thank you in advance for any additional advice you can offer.-Jason
Hi Rikard, so I removed the enfold folder and uploaded the newest version of the theme, however no change, still getting the same fatal error:
Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/lissares/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-gutenberg/class-avia-gutenberg.php on line 31Any other advice you can provide would be appreciated.

Hi Mike, it looks like I need it to. I ended up removing the logo for those specific pages with a css code block on the page itself (logo: display none) and putting a logo in the background image. So many thanks for your time.
Hi Mike, thank you. You are right, but now I want to remove the logo on this page as well. Can you assist?
For what it’s worth, I tried the Dude’s 2nd fix for the pixelentity file and it worked like a charm, updating 4.4.1 to 4.4.5. Thanks!
Hi,
Is the idea to export the config file from the enfold theme, then save the config file to the child theme? Any documentation available on this would be much appreciated. Thanks for your patience with me.

Hi Jordan, no I have not, but it reads like a solid backup solution. For backups I use Akeeba Backup for my wordpress and joomla sites, and have had good success with it. Site backups are not my current issue, I just want to update my version of Enfold, and have a child theme in place before I do . Thanks for the tip though!
Hey Rikard, last question: What’s the best procedure to export and import the theme settings to the child theme? Thanks again!
-Pelyon
Hi, I only customized Enfold in the Theme options area. Will these customizations survive the update process previously described? I have no child theme. Every time I install and activate a child theme, the theme options I use don’t transfer from the parent Enfold to the child. Do you provide a preconfigured child theme I can use? Thank you!
Hi, if you do as Dude suggests, rename existing theme folder, FTP the new theme entitled enfold, then delete the old theme folder, what happens to the theme customizations? Aren’t those lost when you replace the theme folder?
I have an enfold 3.2 site running php 5.6 that I am trying to update via the admin panel and get the missing URL error that jh100 referred to.
Thanks for any advice.
Hi John, that did it, thanks very much! I am interested in learning how you could tell this was the problem however. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi there, I fixed the problem. It was a Cache plugin causing the problem. Have a great day,

Hi, the site is at the following location:
Thanks Rikard, that did it. Much appreciated.
-Pelyon
Hi Rikard,
I placed your CSS with no effect. Any other ideas are much appreciated.
-Pelyon
Perfect, thanks Nikko.
Hi Nikko, Yes that did it, all I had to do was add !important; after the float, margin, and width elements. Thanks again.
-Pelyon
Thanks Nikko, that worked. However, on mobile the text doesn’t flow underneath the photo, but stays right and creates a long and narrow column. I’m referring to the top entry of the page. I’m using nothing but image/text in the excerpt area for the other two, which I would rather not do. Can you suggest how to make the top entry look similar to the bottom two on mobile? Thanks! (BTW, the site was being moved to another server when you looked at it. It’s visible now.) Thanks again!
-Pelyon
Hi Basilis,
No, that CSS did not work for me, no change to what it looks like now. I just want the text to be to the right of the image instead of beneath the image. Is that doable? It is the case with the small pic blog style, text on right, but not the large pic blog style.
-Pelyon
Yes, that did it thanks very much Nikko.
May 19, 2016 at 4:55 pm in reply to: fatal error in trying to update function.php with social icon #635310Hi
Thanks Vinjay, that did it.
Thanks Yigit, that did it. Thank you too Elliott, you guys rock!
Thanks Elliott, that change revealed the header on the mobile view, however on the desktop view, it also made the menu bar extra tall (see link below). What do you think?

Thanks Elliott, Is that css in my quick css area, because I didn’t see it there, nor in my codeblock.
Thanks again,
Pelyon
Thanks Elliott, that did the trick.

Hi Elliot,
Thanks for the reply. A link to one of the effected pages is below.

Thanks for your assistance,
Best regards,
Pelyon
Right, that did it Ismael and Yigit and Andy, many thanks.
This reply has been marked as private.Excellent, that did it. BTW, once you log onto the site, you see a 3rd column (logout) in the mega menu, and these divs are too wide as before. Is there another element? e.g .8.units?
Many, many thanks.
-Pelyon
Hi Yigit,
Thanks for the suggestion, but it had no effect on my issue. I don’t believe I have any other CSS that would conflict. I tried 10 to 1000 px adjustment and the submenu divs were the same width. Any other suggestions? Thanks!!
