    HI Rikard,

Please excuse my delay in replying. A number of issues came up that required more urgent attention.

I am happy to report that the Custom CSS Class field has now returned after the most recent enfold update. Not sure why or how it went away or came back, but everything appears to be working with it now.

Since the update, however, my wordpress admin bar is missing from the top of the page when logged in and viewing my site (only when enfold is the active theme, have tried disabling all plugins). I will create a new ticket for that separate issue if I can’t get it worked out by the end of the day (unless you’ve got a quick idea or two).

Thank you very much for your time. Feel free to close this topic out.

    Hi Rikard,

I have sent credentials in a private content reply. Please let me know if it didn’t make it through and if you need anything else.

in reply to: Event Calendar 3.10 #462125

I rolled back to the previous version because I had some issues.

Events Widget – Appearance of Recurring Events
For recurring events in the widget (single events displayed in the widget as though nothing had changed), the featured image didn’t show up, the styling for price/venue was super ugly and inconsistent with single events, and each bit of information for the recurring event (title, date, time, venue, etc.) had so much white space between them that it tripled the height of the widget on the page.

    Styling
Event details on single event posts now use your alternate background color. List view now uses your alternate background color, too. In my case, this is very difficult to read. In addition, I had used some special headings within event descriptions and styled them inline (they were one-off changes for font size and line height, if I recall correctly), and they did NOT survive the transition well. There were some more minor styling changes, but I can’t recall them at the moment. Nothing insurmountable…I just really dislike the process of styling the events calendar. Wish there were a simple interface for that!

I’m not a pro, so these things may be a breeze for you – or they may not happen to you at all. I haven’t seen any support tickets about it yet. I just didn’t want to fuss with troubleshooting this week and it was a lot easier to roll back to 3.9. It would have taken me half a day to get it looking nice again in 3.10, setting aside the whole widget issue, and it’s Friday. :)

    @Elliott
    – If it still happens when I’m feeling bold enough to update again, I’ll send screenshots your way. I have too many events happening this week and I can’t afford the downtime right now.

    Sorry for my delayed response.

Thanks for the guidance on what should have been completely obvious! Your patience with beginners like me is greatly appreciated.

I use the special heading at different sizes in my event descriptions all over the place, though, so this would require a ton of separate classes for me. I’ll likely just stick with my current solution, since it is fast and flexible and works (even if its inner workings are a bit ugly).

I’m contacting support at The Events Calendar for the code showing up in the excerpt, since that is probably more on their end as well – unless you have a quick explanation for why that is happening. (I confess, I find you guys much more helpful and easier to understand.) Otherwise, feel free to close this thread.

    ugh. images here:
    List View / Calendar View

Something else I just realized which may be related – when I use shortcodes in an event post, that code shows up as code in the default excerpt the first time I load a page. If I refresh, it goes away and I just see the actual text that should be there. (Calendar View before/after, List View before/after) I can avoid this with a custom excerpt, but that really affects the masonry blog grid since it pulls the ENTIRE custom excerpt, even if it is too “tall” to display with the featured image height.

Again, this may not be related at all, and this may belong more in The Events Calendar support area (which is why I haven’t posted it here as of yet). But thought I’d pass it along as a heads-up just in case.

    Hello Elliott,

Thanks for your patience. I deleted and reinstalled Enfold, activated just the theme, then reactivated my child theme – and my site lived to tell the tale! I have also narrowed down exactly where this size issue happens.

In the avia layout builder, it works. In a regular post, it works. In a regular page, it works.

In a custom post type, inserting the shortcode and changing the numeric value for “size” does NOT work. For me, this mainly manifests in any page related to The Events Calendar (I have the pro version). I don’t know if that’s an integration issue on your end or theirs, but I end up just clumsily changing the font size inline (to the text within the shortcode) to get the desired effect. Any ideas on getting these two to play nice so I can cut out that inline style?

    Hey Elliott,

Plugins alone did nothing to change it.

This compete delete/reinstall prospect terrifies me, but I’m up for the challenge! I am a total noob and not a web designer, so I have never done anything this (seemingly) drastic before. All customizations are in my child theme, so can I just delete the main enfold theme and reinstall it without touching the child theme? Just want to confirm that before I go forward.

I learned how to install enfold via FTP this afternoon (thanks, documentation!). With a complete deletion, however, are there extra steps I need to do? I know this is probably a super basic wordpress skill and not an enfold support issue, per se, but I want to make sure I do this right.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Thanks, Ismael!

    That worked perfectly.

Pretty sure buying this theme was the best thing I have ever done for our website. Easy to work with, and this support forum has been invaluable. Just wanted to pass that along.

    Have a happy holiday!!

Figured I’d share my current workaround for anyone else who comes across this topic until (hopefully) some additional functionality is built into Enfold’s blog grid display options.

It doesn’t help in an automated sort of way, but I hide the meta info using the code above, then simply type the desired text into the “Excerpt” section of the Post and link it directly to the page I want it to go to. It’s not necessarily the most elegant solution, but it works and makes my site look the way I want it to across the devices I’ve tested it on.

In the interest of thoroughness, my “Excerpt” section looks like this:

    <strong><a href="http://www.LINKtoPAGE">Category Name</a></strong><br />
    <br />
Text excerpt goes here for whatever I want to show up for this particular blog post.

    Hope this helps someone.

That worked like a dream, first try! Thank you so much for your help. You guys are great. Feel free to close this out this thread.
