Jeez, guys. You’re good!
That did it.
Can’t thank you enough for your help
OK…. No idea why that happened as I checked in two different browsers before writing you and also had my wife check it. SO I apologize for seemingly wasting your time.
But there is now still a small problem with the menu, but only on the home page as far ass I can see. On that page, the main heading text does not show although the drop down items do. The main menu headings only appear after scrolling down. The menu is clearly visible on other pages, just the home page seems to have this issue.
Sorry to be a nuisance about this, but I can’t see why that is happening. Any help would be appreciated

I’ve turned off extensions and cleared cookies. remember that this happens on three different browsers so malware might be a possibility, but Malwarebytes shows no issues. It’s all just confusing and annoying and I can seem to get no handle on it. However, I’ll keep trying! :-)
This reply has been marked as private.Latest update is that, after some time Opera began acting in the same way, ie reloading everything. Admittedly, it was a much quicker reload, but still it happened. So now I’m going back to Chrome but using an incognito window. The only minor annoyance is that I have to copy and paste my credentials to login, but, fingers crossed, there is no reloading going on… at least for the time being.
Still haven’t been able to identify the culprit, but if/when I do I’ll break open the champagne!
No need to respond to this.
I’ll keep this open in case anything else happens.Thanks. If I ever do sort it our, I’ll be sure to post here.
Well. the good news is that I can edit in Opera using my normal account. However, when the page or post to be edited is loading, I see a warning in the address bar of content being blocked. I can see nothing which is missing from the backend.
I can therefore only conjecture that there is some setting in Chrome and Firefox which is causing this and which is absent in Opera. I have previously tried turning off all plugins and extensions in Chrome but that had no effect.
I don’t know if this will be of any use to any others on this forum, but I offer it for what it’s worth; if you have issues writing or editing in either Chrome or Firefox, try Opera…
Fingers crossed that this situation will last!! :-)Thanks again for your ideas. I’ve done all of them except for making a new user, which I’ll try. I’ll also try Opera and see if that makes any difference (Safari is the same).
As it started without any obvious change on my part, I can only hope that, one day, it will stop and I can go back to normal editing.
If I do find a solution, I’ll add it here on the very, very slim chance that someone else might have the same issue.
Thanks again.I genuinely don’t know if you can reproduce the problem. After all, my wife, on an identical machine, has no problems. It must be something about my machine, I suppose, but how that could affect only one WP site and not others is beyond me. The fact that it happens in two different browsers is also strange.
I’ve searched online, I’ve been to Mac forums, to wpengine, to wordpress and to you and I still have no clue as to why it happens or what might be causing it. I must admit, coming to you was my last resort. I don’t know why pages and posts reload, only that it happens only in Enfold and only on my machine and in Firefox and Chrome. Anything else I do in the admin area, such as reply to comments, apply settings to plugins and so on, they all work normally. Only when I edit pages or posts do I have the issue.
Thanks for trying to resolve the issue which I suspect has little to do with the theme. At least I know I’ve tried every avenue open to me (apart from buying a new machine).
If you have any ideas at all, please let me know because I’m out of them.
Thanks again.Sadly no difference. Still the same problems.
This reply has been marked as private.Well, I don’t know how or why, but I did not have a personal token, just the old API thingy. I was reading the instructions on the link you said and went to check the Enfold>Update page and there was a message notifying me of 4.5.7 being available, which was not there before. I then continued with the personal token and got that fixed and then updated the theme.
What I don’t understand is why the update didn’t show before and what caused it to show in the end (even before a personal token was created).
I really do not understand the process. Sure, I’m happy that it eventually worked, but still a little wary about knowing if an update will become available.
Finally, the page I originally wrote in about, with the strange css is now showing properly (due to the update). so that’s a relief.
On that point, this ticket can be closed.
Thanks for the help! All I’m seeing on themeforest is version 4.5.1 for download. Where is the version you referenced, 4.5.7?
Plus, if this is how this is to work in the future, how do I know if there is an update if it’s not now showing in the admin area on wordpress?
Thanks
I don’t see where to access 4.5.7. I’m running 4.5.5, checked manually and it came back saying there is no update available.
Will it be released today perhaps??Thanks
Many thanks. I’ll try this later today. If you hear nothing it will have worked :-)
I did send you the url, but have heard nothing. Maybe I forgot to press ‘Submit’ :-)
Anyway, the site is at discoveringdowsing.com.
Thanks
After looking more carefully, I see that there were extra links added to the menu which acted to push it over. the reason it looked wrong was because the extra links were in black, instead of white text. Which leads me to the next problem with this menu. I’ve set the links for the main menu to be white text on black backgrounds (as you could see in the image. However, the new links were black on black. I’ve tried adding quick CSS such as
#menu-item-4583 > a >.avia-menu-text {
color: #ffffff !important}but this did nothing for the new links (which I’ve got rid of).
I’ve also tried .avia-menu-text {color: #ffffff !important} as a way of forcing menu links to be white, but this still did not work with the new links. Is there some way of forcing all top menu links which will be added from now on to be white on black that I’m missing? At least then I’ll know if it’s some peculiar new link arriving because I’ll be able to see it!!
Many thanks
Yup.
ThanksThanks. That’s what I feared :-)
Thanks, I’ve updated and it’s fine now.
Thank you. I have no idea why it didn’t work when I set it! Perhaps it just doesn’t like me :-(
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to look into it!Nigel
I keep writing the login details, but they keep disappearing! I’ve tried (for the third time!!) below.
I have no idea why this is not going through
Details sent. Didn’t see any change.
Thanks
http://thesixthsensesolution.com/store/5-store/ will show the problem,
ThanksFebruary 25, 2016 at 11:03 pm in reply to: How to keep woocommerce custom code when updating #589509Sorry for the delay.
Finally got round to trying this out on a staging site.
I installed and activated the child theme, then followed the directions for the coding but it doesn’t work. Looking at the Woocommerce documentation, I tried altering the file path, ignoring the ‘template’ subdirectory, but still no luck.
This worked for me when I directly altered the original file, but I must have done something different this time, because it is not redirecting properly to the new store url.I’ve tried wp-content/themes/enfold-child/woocommerce/cart/cart-empty.php
and wp-content/themes/enfold-child/woocommerce/templates/cart/cart-empty.php and, in both cases, copied and pasted the url I want in the appropriate location in that file.As it’s a staged site, the url is different to the original coding, and that’s the only thing which I can think of as being different.
What else could I be missing?
Any help or suggestions gratefully received! Thanks. I’ll be able to get to this tomorrow, I hope. If I have issues with it, I’ll come back to you.
Thanks for those ideas.
Actually, I’ve found a simpler way of doing it and thought it might be helpful if I share it here for others in similar situations.
Firstly, the shortcode [add_to_cart_url id=”123″] does not seem to play nicely and (as of this post’s date) has been noted to produce odd results.
However…. If I create a button in Enfold, I can then use the following link to direct them to the cart page directly (and, of course, have it styled and say what I want): The link is
http://mywebsite.com/?add-to-cart=123 (with the numbers at the end being the product id)Of course, you could also make the button however you wanted, as long as it has this link in it.
Much simpler and cleaner! For those who are looking for more details to pass with the button, I suggest you check out https://nicolamustone.com/2015/09/18/creating-custom-add-to-cart-url/
Hope this helps others resolve this issue!!
Excellent! Thank you!
