August 6, 2018 at 11:27 pm in reply to: How to Reduce Margin Between Blog Content & Sidebar? #994145
Thanks Jordan, that did the trick. If we could leave this open a couple days just to be sure I don’t have any additional questions, that’d be great.
Appreciate your expert help! :)Hi guys, I’m moving forward with my site and realized that based on how we have it set up (see above or I’ll copy & paste to summarize below), that there is no full width slider image or menu on the actual individual blog post pages.
So does this mean I have to set up the full width slider and the menu up individually/manually ALL 175 blog post pages – or is there a way around this!?? I put a lot of thought and a TON of CSS into the way I have my site set up now with how the menu is and header is, etc. so I’d rather than totally rework that, but I’d also prefer not to have to set up every single post page individually.-> The “Articles & Videos” page was set as the posts page in the Settings > Reading panel. We reset that option to default and set the Blog Layout > Blog Layout settings to “Use the advanced layout builder…” option. You can now use the advance layout builder to edit the content of the blog page.
August 6, 2018 at 8:28 pm in reply to: Further CSS Customizations for Sales Page to Look Like Boxed Layout? #994072Hi Mike,
I think adding the socket with a color section background image and a code block inside for the copyright/disclaimer line will work good.
I have it all set up, however, when I view the page on mobile, the entire line I put in the code block doesn’t show up. I’ll post the code I used in the PC below.
Also, I was curious what you would recommend for getting the dashed horizontal rules I have styled in the testimonial boxes on this page to center on mobile? I’ll paste an example of that code below as well.
A third thing I just noticed – when testing on screen sizes 320×480, there appears to be a lot of white space above the page title / below the fill width image slider. Is there some code to fix that? It seems OK on other screen sizes?
Thanks so much for your help! :)August 6, 2018 at 1:19 am in reply to: Further CSS Customizations for Sales Page to Look Like Boxed Layout? #993761Thanks Mike! That code worked.
No worries about the other thread, I thought I had everything set on the page too, but didn’t realize it still needed work until I got to the finishing touches.
I will follow through on your idea for the bottom of the page tomorrow and will report back on whether it works out or if I have any other questions.
Thanks again for the help! :)August 4, 2018 at 1:41 pm in reply to: Further CSS Customizations for Sales Page to Look Like Boxed Layout? #993507Thanks Mike! It looks good and I think that plan will work for the bottom of the page. I’ll try that this weekend. I’m glad you responded to this since you were helping me with the page before… we closed that other thread just a moment too soon!
I’d like to leave this open a bit longer until I experiment with the bottom of the page and get it just right.
One more thing about this page – I see that the full width slider image on the top of the page gets cut off on mobile?
Is there something we can do to correct that?
Thanks again for your expertise – it’s so appreciated! :)August 4, 2018 at 5:27 am in reply to: Further CSS Customizations for Sales Page to Look Like Boxed Layout? #993399Just wanted to bump this up since it’s been over two days and I haven’t heard anything? Thanks.
Yay, it seems to be working for me now too.
If we can keep this thread open a couple more days to make sure I don’t have any more problems, that’d be great. Thanks.August 1, 2018 at 10:54 pm in reply to: Further CSS Customizations for Sales Page to Look Like Boxed Layout? #992602Also, I just noticed that when the page is viewed on mobile, that the full width image slider image is cut off? Would like some CSS to correct that please? Thank you!
You bet, looks like we are safe to close this one. Thanks again! :)
BTW, as an update – this seems to be working OK on the Learn page but not the Contact page. Look forward to receiving some troubleshooting help. Thanks.
Thank you so much Mike, it looks great! :)
Hi Mike – please help!
I followed all the steps you shared above, but have run into a problem with adding the custom code from functions.php into the child theme file (under Editor -> Appearance). I keep getting errors when I try, and on top of that my site is REALLY messed up looking now, even though I successfully imported the parent theme settings.
I’ll share links to my parent functions.php file as well as ‘theme export file’ I saved in the PC below.
Can you troubleshoot please?Thanks so much Mike, that worked great! :)
We can close this thread.Hi Mike, I should have been more specific… the border will show up around tables, etc. but one place it can barely be seen (it’s just 1px) is right under the reddish stitched leather where the menu is – there is a faint line just under it.
I’ll make it white so it’s more noticeable.
I’d like to specify ‘no border’ for the main content area so this doesn’t show up there – but also, so that if I use a table, it doesn’t automatically put a border around it.
Thanks!That worked great, Mike – thank you again for all the great help! :)
That did the trick – thank you so much! :)
Thanks Mike, we are SO close!
Can you please look at the page – and let me know if there’s some code to hide the reddish leather strip at the top and the title at the top? Then bring the full-width image all the way to the top (so there’s no space above it)?
Thanks so much for your help! :)Hi Dude,
I tried changing that piece of code and also using the code block, neither worked.
However, if I post the fresh code that hasn’t been altered, and save the page (once), everything appears OK. It’s when I go back and change something on that page that it gets altered.
So ‘I think’ if I just paste fresh code any time I need to make a change to the page, it should work for now. I’ll look forward to an update where this is resolved.
Would like to keep this thread open for another couple days in case I have another question. Thanks.Thanks a TON Mike – you’re a genius! I have the page getting close to what I want.
When I choose the ‘no header, no footer’ option though, it takes away the boxed layout.
So I have chosen to not display the footer, and am using the second CSS code you gave me.
Now I just need to hide the purple logo area and the small top bar with the opt-in at the very top.
Is there a way to do that with CSS? Thanks again. :)
Thank you Mike! I actually decided I liked the border underneath the widget titles better.
Is there some CSS to disable it under the footer widgets only?Thank so much! ;)
I tried a couple Amazon plug-ins, but found they are not really want I want.
I did find out that this problem with the Amazon Affiliate code not showing up on my new site in progress does not seem to be Chrome related – the books don’t show up in Safari, IE, or Firefox.
On my old web site, the same code comes up fine. I will post a link to that in the PC.
Can anyone offer more troubleshooting advice on this issue please?Thank you so much, Mike! Worked perfect – got everything I need. We can close this thread. :)
All this code is just what I needed – thank you guys!
Mike, that code worked great.
Would it be better if I added it to the functions.php file via FTP instead? Is there a difference between doing it there vs. in the Editor?
Also, when I hover over the Author Link it says ‘Posts by (Author Name),’ is there a way I can change that to ‘About (Author Name)?Thanks again! :)
Thank you Ismael. It seems this new set-up will work great. I’d like to keep this open for a couple days to make sure but I sure appreciate your help! :)
Thank you so much Mike! With the code you provided, I was able to get it just the way I want it – I really appreciate your help! :D
I also wanted to add, that this border is showing up above the titles in the widgets in the footer… but I don’t want them there. Only as a separating line between the sidebar widgets? Thanks!
Thanks! That added a border below the title… but I wanted a dividing line between the widgets so I changed it to top instead of bottom, which will work great – but now it’s just sitting right on top of the title and the padding (to move it up so the border looks like’s it’s spaced between the widgets) I’ve tried isn’t working?
h3.widgettitle {
border-top: 1px dashed #CCBDB8 !important;
padding-bottom: 15px;
width: 100%;
}Any ideas?
Does this impact all pages? I added the CSS, saved and cleared the cache but am not seeing a difference?
Hi Mike, I removed the CSS you gave me earlier. What would be even better would be to make the author text (my name) link to the About page (don’t want/need an author page).
If that’s possible, that would be my first preference.
If not, disabling the link would be my next choice.
Thank you!Thanks Dude, I see that this has been an issue with the Enfold theme before Google was pushing for https, but that could be a possibility.
I am going to experiment with the Amazon plug-in to see if that does the trick but I’ll keep your idea in mind and will report back on what I get accomplished.
Thanks again. -
