    Hi Mike,
Oh, this really helped now. Allowing cookies on Safari for iPhone and all the mentioned features are visible. Please accept my apologies, it seems I may have blocked cookies in the recent past and forgot about that. Appreciated.

On my desktop PC I am working with different browsers like Firefox, Opera, Microsoft Edge preferably in private mode. And since the last two updates the mentioned features are not working anymore on Firefox. So this is still not clear to me although I allow Firefox to set cookies.

    So here’s the update:
Enfold Cookie-Disclaimer does not work on Firefox
Scroll to top button does not work on Firefox
Plugin Portfolio Filter Gallery does not work on Firefox
Plugin NextGEN Gallery does not work on Firefox

Many thanks & all the best!
    Matthias

    Hi Mike,
The caching plugin is really helpful to boost the speed of the website and I will not disable it. Anyway, it cleares the cache three times a day and starts caching again. However, I just cleared all caches manually, and it did not help at all.

Like I said at the beginning, cookie banner and all the other features always worked very well and I have not changed anything in my browser settings in the last two years or so.

    All the best,
    Matthias

    Hi Rikard,
As far as I can see, it seems to work on other machines.

To make things even more complicated, I have noticed that, when I log-in via Firefox into WordPress for editing the website and open a new window to check the result of new pageson the front end, everything works very properly: cookie banner, scroll to top button as well as the plugins (Next GEN & Portfolio Filter Gallery). As soon as I log out, they disappear. So I only can’t see these features on my desktop PC via Firefox once I’m a normal visitor.

    All the best,
    Matthias

    Hi Rikard,
So far it always worked within my network and with my main machines: desktop pc and iPhone. Just tested on the iPhone to use WIFI instead of mobile connection but it did not work either, even after clearing the browser cache.

However, it worked very well on my notebook pc with Firefox. So it may have to do with my desktop pc, although I cannot rember that I changed anything in the system in the past months.

Let me see whether I can do some tests on other machines and I get back to you asap.

    Many thanks,
    Matthias

    Hi Rikard,
This is very interesting. Normally I always use the private mode, but even without the private mode I still can’t see the cookie banner and the scroll to top button as well as the plugins (Next GEN & Portfolio Filter Gallery).

With other browsers there is also no difference between “normal” mode and private mode.

    All the best,
    Matthias

    Hi Rikard,
Thanks. Now I fixed it with the Navigation Menu widget and everything is perfect as I want it. Don’t know why I ever used this other widget.

    Thanks again for your support.

    Al lthe best,
    Matth

    Hi Rikard,
Thanks. It seems to work now stable without the vertical menu widget on PHP 8.

Do you have an idea how I could set-up a sidebar menu without that widget?

    All the best,
    Matth

It’s probably the vertical menu widget causing the error. I made some analysis and found this:

    Invalid Date
The called constructor method for WP_Widget class in vert_menu_widget is deprecated since version 4.3.0! Use __construct() instead.
    Type: PHP Deprecated

Function WP_User_Query::query was called incorrectly. User queries should not be run before the plugins_loaded hook. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 6.1.1.)

    What do you think?

    Hi Rikard,
That’s what they discuss in some forums as well but nobody really seems to know which plugin does use this widget at all.

    Hi,
So what do you suggest? I should re-install WP or what could be the solution?

    All the best,
    Matth

in reply to: PHP 8 Error #1376562

Thanks. Let me figure out whether one of my plugins is using this Widget. However, I’m surprised that WordPress 6.1.1 is not completely prepared for PHP 8, at least wp-includes.

    Hi,
It seems there are various problems now. Whenever something is changed newly at the moment it doesn’t work for both languages. Even the footer menue etc. is affected. So when I was starting reverting the changes you made it only worked for the German version, but not for the English version. And I could only doing it deactivating WPML at first. Otherwise nothing can be set in Enfold or in other plugins. That’s the issue I’m fighting with. At the moment the frontend is totally damaged (w/ or w/o WPML or any other plugins). I restored an older database from last week but it didn’t help either.

I’m trying to fix it at first increasing the PHP Memory limit and maybe afterwards I will re-install Enfold via ftp, if you agree. It seems that more memory is needed. It’s set at the hoster at 256M but actually I only have 40M. So I will have to add a snipped in the wp-config.php.
In case this doesn’t work I will get back to you again and we take it from there.

    All the best,
    Matthias

    Hi Ismael,
Exactly. I had it all done that way and since I upgraded to WPML Multilingual CMS (Version 4.0.7) I have trouble in the backend. At some point the sidebar navigation disappeared. That means that I cannot set-up anymore any details in the theme options for my Enfold frontend in both languages. The menues are not visible in the backend. Checked this again and now I found that the widget was made automatically inactive although I have hade it active for years now. I think the vertical menu issue is basically fixed now but I still cannot switch between the languages. So the English Vertical Menus is not visible, because I cannot define it. At the moment it shows the footer menue and I cannot switch to the vertical menut. I only can do the set-up once WPML Multilingual CMS (Version 4.0.7) is deactivated but then I ony have access to one language. When I activate WPML Multilingual CMS (Version 4.0.7) again I have no chance to access anythnig in English. So as far as I can see the trouble is WPML Multilingual CMS (Version 4.0.7). I’m asking myself whether I should downgrade to an earlier version. I have also asked the WPML Multilingual CMS (Version 4.0.7) support whether they can help me but so far they could not help me. Do you understand now what the real trouble is?

    Best regards,
    Matthias

in reply to: vertical menu nicht mehr sichtbar #1009874

    Hi Rikard,
Yes it’s not visible anymore on the frontend although I haven’t changed anything in the backend set-up. Just to recap: the vertical menu is supposed to appear on the right sidebar with the title “XTRAS” and has similar content in both languages (German and English) with the exception that a page called “Blog” is only in German. The sidebar content is not visible anymore on the frontend. However, the links are still active (so they can be found on Google – please see one link in the private content) and certainly they are still in the backend.

I would love to send you some screenshots from the backend but do have no idea how to post them via this tool

    All the best,
    Matthias

    Hi Victoria,
Tried this now many times in the past days in order to find out whether any plugin plays a role. Even clearing the caches and stuff like this doesn’t help. I really have no idea why this happend because I didn’t change anything in the enfold settings. The vertical menu seems to be there in both languages and is supposed to appear on the sidebar on the right. Would you mind checking my backend in order to fix this, please?

    Many thanks,
    Matthias

I had the same problem and not only on mobile. How did you fix it? Nearly all links were dead and I had to upload WP 4.8.2 in order to avoid trouble.
