January 25, 2021 at 12:54 am in reply to: Updating Enfold for old client – Downloading up to date version? #1275143
Hi Nikko,
Thanks for the reply, will this not delete the current settings my client has as they are not using a child theme?
The version they currently have (4.4.1) seems to be a bit unstable and I just simply want to update the theme, which I used to be able to do in the Enfold settings. Has this function been discontinued now?
thanks
Great, thank you for the help
Hi,
It is the mobile version of dashthetrash.co.uk
If you can see, the background colour doesn’t extend to cover the whole of the footer.
thanks
JamesHi,
sorry i am not particularly experienced in CSS. Do i need to add in all of that code you have linked to? If so which part would i be changing to just affect the footer on devices. I am not sure which devices are affected by this problem with the footer as i only have an iPhone, not sure about tablets,
thanks for the help,
James
Hi,
No worries :)
I have added it to “theme functions (functions.php). I have just added the code to the bottom of the page. Is that correct? I think from what i can see that it has worked, but just want to clarify if there was a specific place i need to put the code in functions.php
thanks again
Hi Ismael,
Thanks for that. I have inputted the code in the enfold general styling quick css section. It still has not worked it seems. I am trying to sort out the single blog post pages as these are the ones most people will see as opposed to the 404 page. Could you look at the site pages on your side and see if it has worked on your end?
I have to use Raleway in the sliders as it is the main font for the whole site, but is there anyway around it affecting the main menu on the pages where the slider is used? Is this a fault with the slider or something that i have done?
thanks again and thanks for your patience,
James
Hi Ismael,
thanks, where do i put the code if it is invalid in quick css?
thanks
JamesHi,
thanks for the email. Unfortunately it still has not solved the issue. I am almost certain it is something to do with Layerslider WP. I experimented and put the code block, with the layerslider code inside, onto the single blog post page. It changed the weight of the menu font to look like all other pages. Please refer to my screenshots.
Can you think of any reason for this or any specific sections in the backend that i should check? You also have my login details in a previous message in the private section if you would like to look at the backend,
thanks
JamesHi Andy,
thanks for your patience, i am not particularly familiar with the technicalities of wordpress so some things go over my head a bit. I have gone into the back end of the site and turned on WP supercache and stopped it from caching the site and kept the app active. I have also tried to do what i think is a hard refresh (i am on Safari on a Mac) – Shift + CMD + R. It has not changed the issue. I have also checked on other computers in the house and the same problem persists. The menu seems to be fine for all pages apart from the blog single posts, on different browsers, the problem is different, safari seems to make the menu text bigger and therefore making it wider. On Chrome it changes the font. Please see private content.
Is there some sort of conflict between WordPress and Enfold when it comes to the menu?
Will reinstalling Enfold delete everything i have done so far as i am very close to finishing my site?
thanks
Hi Andy,
I am not using any custom code, the only thing i have at the top of each page (apart from the single blog posts) is the following for the layer slider – for example i am using a code block with this inside it and nothing else – [layerslider id=”6″]
All plugins have already been deactivated. Did anyone look through the site when i gave the login details? I was speaking to Vinay at the time.
I have no child themes and have also cleared my cache and checked on other browsers throughout the process. I am assuming if you can see the problems then refreshing anything will not help?
thanks
Hi,
No worries I will stick to the original issue, which was the main menu problems. Please refer to the links and see that the menu changes between the 2 pages, also on the blog single post, the main section text colours are different to the rest of the website.
http://www.highviewsearch.com/ – How i want the menu to look / How it looks on every page apart from the single blog posts.
http://www.highviewsearch.com/test2 – Menu font seems to ‘unbold’, blue and orange post text are a different colour to the rest of the site.I don’t know if all of this is due to the LayerSliderWP? As the Blog single post is the only place the slider is not being used?
thanks
Hi,
Sorry, I can’t see that anything has changed, I want the top and bottom of the footer to be tighter to the text. At the moment the top and bottom gaps between the text are too big…. The problem with the menu is still there, the text colours are also different on the blog single posts compared to the rest of the site (You can compare this to the colours in the menu on the right hand side of the single posts).
The Envato theme update has also not been done? Could you advise me whether i can do this safely without deleting everything i have done so far.
thanks
Hi Vinay,
Thanks for you patience,
I have no custom CSS stuff in the theme, i was just talking about general changes i have made when using the theme, colours, fonts etc, i don’t want everything to just reset. I just need to be sure i won’t lose anything as i am close to finishing the site. If this is all ok then i will update.
I have put my login details into the private area. I am still having problems with the menu on the single posts page looking different to the rest of the site. I am also concerned that the font colour is slightly different to the rest of the site when you click through to read a single post?
When i added in the code for the footer it didn’t really work. I have provided a screenshot. As you can see i now have a white space between the footer and the copyright section. But also still have quite a bit of space above the information in the footer which i would like to reduce.
thanks again for the quick reply
Hi,
Will updating delete any of the changes i have made so far to the site?
I have no active plugins at the moment and the problem is still happening for single blog pages. They are the only pages without the WP Layerslide.
Also could you let me know where to put the footer code you have given me? Sorry i am not very good with code and wordpress.
I am also now having problems with the WP Layerslide, the text and logo i have on the left hand side sit close to the middle when i view my site on a desktop. On a laptop it is fine. But i would like to have the text and logo be in the same place on all devices (quite close to the left side edge). Can you help with that?
thanks for the reply,
