Hello,
Any updates on the imaging “tearing” issue for the gallery media element?I found an unrelated website, Zillow.com, which shows image tearing in their search box.
It is very interesting to me that tearing is appearing in a search box.
I don’t know if there is a larger issue of tearing that appears outside of the Enfold theme specifically. I wonder if tearing is appearing on other websites that do Not use Enfold. For these unrelated websites, is tearing appearing in elements beyond the search box element?
It would be good to know what theme or template builder Zillow, if it is WordPress-based, or not. That may lead solutions to the tearing problem for Enfold and to non-Enfold/non-WordPress-based websites. Zillow.com is a well-known website.
It may be helpful to contact Zillow about this to help all people who have websites who have this “tearing” issue. I am still very interesting in identifying the underlying cause or causes of the problem for me and for anyone else who has this problem.

I have not installed an image compression or optimization plugin.September 28, 2020 at 3:36 pm in reply to: PNG images have thin tear in right corner when used within gallery media element #1249018Hello,
This tearing happens for PNG, JPEG, and JPG images/files whenever I insert them into the gallery element. I went back to much older images, JPG, that were ordinary, unmodified JPG pictures/images of scenery, taken from my digital camera from nearly 10 years ago, and inserted them into a new gallery element on a totally different page, and I still saw the tearing.I wondered if maybe the problem was because the images were art works (instead of ordinary photograph images) or maybe because I was first using PNG images/files and then later JPEG images/files, but PNG, JPEG, and JPG images/files added into the gallery element still produced a gallery of images with this tearing. This tearing problem happens in a gallery element that contained exclusively PNG images, exclusively JPEG images, exclusively JPG images, or any combination of these 3 types of image files.
When viewed in the media library itself, the PNG, JPEG, and JPG files look totally fine, no problem, so the file themselves seem to not be damaged.
Were you able to reproduce this problem on your own website? I want to know if this is a problem specific to me, or if you or other people have been able to reproduce this problem. Knowing this would be helpful in finding out what is causing the problem I am having.
I have not seen this tearing problem when my art work images/files – JPEG or PNG – when using masonry gallery. But masonry gallery is not how I wish to present my images. I want my images, ideally, to be in some type of gallery.
I hope that your team will continue looking into what maybe the underlying cause(s). In the meantime, I will use either: (1) a gallery that I create with a code block using CSS, HTML, and Javascript, or (2) easy slider. Thank you for your teams great persistence with this, but please do keep me updated on anything you may find out about this issue. Many great thanks to you and your team in the meantime with your very kind assistance.
September 22, 2020 at 7:38 pm in reply to: PNG images have thin tear in right corner when used within gallery media element #1247689Thank you, Guenni. I like using PNG because jpeg, while smaller, loses sharpness in the image on screen, looks slightly blurry. I have a white background so my darkly colored images look like they have thin, jagged white rips on the left and right corners of the images.

Thank you.September 21, 2020 at 9:05 am in reply to: PNG images have thin tear in right corner when used within gallery media element #1247284Hello,
I do not mean cropping of the image. Imagine you have a physical piece of paper and somebody made physical rips in the corners. In other words, the paper is torn in the corners. Imagine this same problem seems to be happening, but with PNG images. This problem only happens when I use PNG images in the gallery element.This problem does not happen when images are added to an accordion slider This problem does not happen when images are inserted into a easy slider.
When I created a basic gallery using a code block using CSS and HTML, this problem did not happen.
If you look at the images inside my media library, the images show now digital rips/tears at all.
I’ve added an additional screenshot image in my Dropbox with pink arrows pointing to these rips/tears in my PNG images, in addition to the first screenshot image I sent 10 days ago (see Private Content).
The most important part of figuring out this problem is being certain that you are seeing the same Dropbox files that I am talking about. Please look at these 2 screenshot files in my Dropbox.
If you do not look at these 2 screenshot files, then you and I are not talking about the same thing and we are not looking at the same thing.
I also have included this URL for the web page where the problem appears.
September 18, 2020 at 4:11 pm in reply to: PNG images have thin tear in right corner when used within gallery media element #1246847Hello,
I’m not sure if I correctly understood the thread on blurred pictures. I set the Big Preview Image and Preview Image to different sizes, but the tear on the top right and top left corners still show appear.My issue is – regardless of blurry image or clear image – these tears continue to exist. I only scaled down the image – knowing that they are blurry – to create different sizes of one image file, to demonstrate that regardless of size or clear/blurry image, the tears/rips in the upper corners continue.
I added a code block of a basic gallery to show that the image files themselves are fine. The images only get the corner tears/rips when inserted into the gallery content element, and I’m not sure how to fix the problem (eliminate the tears/rips).
Please let me know if you can see these corner tears/rips on your side. The tears are faint but they are there. If you cannot see them, I can upload additional files to Dropbox. If you cannot see these tears, we are looking at different things, and you may not be seeing the problems that I am describing about how images have these faint (they appear a very light white when contrasted with the dark colors of my images) after they are added to the gallery content element. But please do have another look – it’s not a clear/blur issue but a tear/rip issue in the top right and left corners of images.
If the corner tear/rip problem in my images – in the end – cannot be resolved within the gallery content element, I will not use gallery and use the basic gallery that I created in my code block. Thank you, and please let me know what you find and further recommend to how to resolve this issue. I’m not sure if other Enfold users have experienced this problem with the gallery content element. Looking forward to your reply.

September 10, 2020 at 5:03 am in reply to: PNG images have thin tear in right corner when used within gallery media element #1244731Update: The digital tear, it seems, also appears on the upper left corners of the images. So, there are digital tears on left and right corners of all of my PNG images when they are within the gallery media element.
Dear Rikard,
Thank you for your kind assistance. Your solution worked for me.Many thanks to you,
-MamieJanuary 4, 2018 at 3:33 am in reply to: Enfold – How to Create Global Search Box/Search Form in the Header #893044Dear Basilis and Kriesi folks,
Any update on my question about search box and “instant results” that show only search results from within blog posts only, versus a global search of my entire website (including the blog) which happens when I hit my computer keyboard’s return button?December 12, 2017 at 7:41 am in reply to: Enfold – How to Create Global Search Box/Search Form in the Header #887767Hello,
I see that the problem is that the search form/box that I created in Quick CSS in Enfold shows instant results from only my blog posts when I type in a search term; it ignores the rest of my website completely.When I hit my computer keyboard’s return key, that’s when I see the results of searching the entirety of the website, including the blog posts.
It’s not obvious that visitors to my website have to hit the return key to see search results of my entire website. If they stopped at the instant results (that is, if they did Not hit the return key), they’d only get the search results of the blog posts only.
Is there a way to change the message, or maybe even disable instant results, making hitting the return key mandatory? I’ve attached a screenshot for your review. Thank you.
January 3, 2017 at 8:12 am in reply to: Enfold – Reducing Size of My Screen Squeezes ALL Website Text Inward #728870Thank you, Ismael. I tested out various mi-width values and found the one that worked well for me. Thank you (and Kriesi) for all of your help with this, much appreciated.
January 2, 2017 at 10:22 pm in reply to: Enfold – Reducing Size of My Screen Squeezes ALL Website Text Inward #728763The Menu moves inward INTO the logo when I shrink the screen on my desktop computer. I would like for the Menu and Logo to NOT run into each other when the screen shrinks.
This problem is still there even when changing to code for the margin-left to %
I’ve attached a link to my Dropbox for this file.
December 22, 2016 at 5:34 am in reply to: Enfold – Reducing Size of My Screen Squeezes ALL Website Text Inward #727383Dear Rikard,
Thank you for your reply. I’ve upgraded you to admin.For my website, what I want to do is make the text in my logo be aligned with the text within the main body of text.
But I’ll keep experimenting with different margin settings.
I look forward to your reply after you’ve had a chance to look within my website for suggestions on how I may achieve the above goal.
Thanks you.December 21, 2016 at 5:52 am in reply to: Enfold – Reducing Size of My Screen Squeezes ALL Website Text Inward #726897Let me be specific. The collapse is occuring in my logo and menu area. My quick CSS:
/* Moves the MENU inward, Flush with body content */
nav.main_menu {
right: 23%;
}
/* Logo moved far left margin, previously -25, now pushed towards the RIGHT */
.logo {
margin-left: 570px;
}When I reduce the screen, the menu items collapse toward the center toward the logo. Can the Logo and menu items be made so that they don’t collapse toward the center of the screen when the screen is reduced in size?
Dear Kriesi team,
Thank you so very much for your individual and collective efforts in helping me to have a search box that appears on every page of my website when viewed on my mobile phone. I just tested it out after clearing my cache and it works great.I appreciate all of the hard work and persistence of your team in helping me with the various questions I’ve had. My website is all the better for it. Thank you again,
-MamieHello, the search box is not visible on my mobile when I go to my site’s Home, About, Inspirations, Books, Causes, and Contact pages. I want the search box on all pages.
Hello, Ismael,
I added the code to my functions.php file and I also made the edits to the Quick CSS field also, but still no search box when I visit my website using my mobile phone. When I click on the menu icon, it shows all my menu items, but no search box.I’m wondering: My website is private, not public. Would that possibly make the search box not appear?
Also, my iPhone is an iPhone 4. Would that also possibly make the search box not appear?In the meantime, as an alternative, I’ve added a compatible plug-in that creates a search box. I’ve placed that at the footer of my website. But once a solution is found to my missing search box problem, I will delete the plug-in and use the solution that you provide.
Many thanks for your continued efforts in helping me to solve my problem.
It is not working; no search box yet of my website on mobile.
I added the suggested edits, including the short code, only to functions.php and it did not solve my problem.
My website Appearance>Menu does not have a place for short code so where would I put it?
I don’t know what I am doing wrong.
Hello,
I went to the functions.php Text file. I did a search and did not find the word, Appearance in it.I added: add_shortcode(‘avia_search’, ‘get_search_form’);
[avia_search]
as the last two lines of text in that file and saved that file with these edits in it.Perhaps I am misunderstanding the last part of your reply. When the Appearance>Menus asks for a URL, does it mean to add a website address, or am I looking in the wrong place?
Hello,
I went to the Appearance>Editor and added/saved:
add_shortcode(‘avia_search’, ‘get_search_form’);I then went to Appearance>Menus
I clicked on Custom Links
–>This asked for URL and Link TextWhat would be the URL? The link text should only show up on mobile devices but not on desktop/laptop computers.
Where would the short code go on Appearance>Menus ?
