I do need you or someone in your team to take a look at the problem that I posted yesterday above, to find out which file or files in Enfold theme caused the update issue on my website.

@Ismael, I have been on the phone with Godaddy customer service rep. for about an hour just now, they have checked everything and still can’t make the edit function work. Then we decided to switch to another theme to see if that’s the theme causes the issue. We switched to Twenty Twelve theme, it worked! So now, it seems that’s Enfold theme problem. Could anybody in Enfold team check which of your file not compatible with WordPress version 4.7 and 4.8?

Hi Victoria,
My php version is 5.6 and have confirmed with Godaddy customer service rep. that is the latest version. I also asked them to check if there is any problem on my hosting server that causes the issue to update the website contents. He told me he did not see any issue from his end.
Once I tried to edit a page, I am not able to click any of the menu on WordPress dashboard either. I have to hit the back button to leave that editing page, then I can click any menu.
All other functions on my site seem to be working besides the edit function.
Any suggestions that I can try?

I re-installed the latest version of WordPress, deactivated all the plugins today, but still can’t save the update of my website. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I finished re-updating the theme via FTP, the problem still there. I edited a page and clicked Update button, the page didn’t do anything still. Could you please take a look at my website for me to see what cause this problem? I have included my FTP login on private content. Thanks!
Ok, I will update the theme again right away via FTP. BTW, I switched to Enfold Child theme this morning when I came in, but the Child theme has the same issue.

Got it, so I will update the theme through FTP next time instead of updating on WP directly.

Thanks Vinay, did you see anything wrong on my site that caused the problem from updating on WP? I do want to find a safety method for future updates.

Yes, you have my permission to update the theme through do that for me and see what cause the problem. But can we do it after 5pm so that it won’t effect the business too much as we running Google advertising.

I really don’t know what caused the issue. I updated the theme on my WP dashboard, it took at least 2-3 minutes in update mood, then it became a blank page (both on WP dashboard and my site) and showing the page is temporarily unavailable. I deleted the Enfold Child theme from my Godaddy, but the site did not use the parent theme. Then I have to restore the site from my backup.
This is the second time happened when I updated the theme, and the site become unavailable. I do want you take a look at what’s the problem that caused the site down when update the theme. Login info in private message below.

I have to spend a few hours to restore the site from my backup yesterday. I am afraid to update the theme now. Any one please give me some idea how to update the theme without having it broken my site?

I don’t know what’s going on with this update. After my site broken, I deleted the Enfold Child theme from my Godaddy, then upload the newest Enfold files using the FTP, but the site still no recovered.

@johnS59, I know how painful it’s. Here is what I did today to get the site back. First, I login to my hosting account (we hosting on Godaddy), go to File Manager, delete the entire Enfold theme. Then search “how to upload files via FTP” on my hosting website, follow the instruction to upload the new theme from there. Please remember, you have to unzip the theme file to use FTP then you site should work.
It’s a hard work for me since I don’t have any experience on FTP. Also I would suggest you to open a new post for your issue so that more people can see your question. People here are very nice and you will get a lot of good advice.@goldengate415, I don’t use any custom css, so child them is not a problem for me. Actually I am quite happy with Enfold theme, many of my friends and customers told me that our website looks very good and I have recommended Enfold to them already. This update really cause me headache. @w3newbie, I am a newbie in FTP, I have spent a whole afternoon to figure out how to FTP file. Since my site is back now, I don’t want to redo all the process to upload new file, I am afraid I would make mistake and cause the site down again. I prefer to going through all the setting again to keep site up.
Hey @tahern, Thanks for the info, but where can I get an old version? I usually update the theme through WordPress dashboard and did not save any copy.
Spent my whole day for this new version update, uploaded via FTP, lost all of my setting. Site finally came back – but a big messy! VERY VERY unhappy!

@goldengate415, thanks for the advice. I tried and the Enfold file package has been uploaded. However, it’s still not working (I uploaded the zip file of the theme: themeforest-4519990-enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme-wordpress-theme), maybe I uploaded the wrong file? Which format file should I upload to the FTP?

I know I shouldn’t say something mean before. But was so anxious for the broken site, and I am still trying to figure out how to fix it. As I never used the FTP before, I have to learn how to use this tool from the beginning….
I have to say this update is a disaster!
Thanks for the advice above. I deleted Enfold folder, the site back to default theme and I am able to login to WordPress dashboard now, and trying to upload the theme from Appearance – Themes – Upload theme, it has been uploading for more than 20 minutes and hasn’t been finished yet. Could anybody give me some idea how can I upload via FTP? I am new in this area and do have a hard time to recover my site.

@Kriesi, can you please give me a step-by-step instruction? Our site hosting on Godaddy and I not good at the web hosting staffs, just worried to make my site worse if I don’t do it right.
